EARTH DAY CELEBRATION: GFWC Woman's Club of Elkins is sponsoring an Earth Day celebration today from noon until 2 p.m. at the Elkins City Park (large pavilion). There will be kid's crafts, displays, games, recognition of the poster and photo contest winners, and giveaways. Participating groups include the Elkins Tree Board, Master Gardeners, WV Master Naturalist program, Interact Children's Museum, Our Town, and more. HOMESTEAD CRAFT SHOW & INDOOR/OUTDOOR YARD SALE: will be today from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Homestead Community and Event Center in Dailey. To reserve a space, contact Chelley Depp 304-642-4433 or email chelsvc94@yahoo.com. Lunch concessions will be available for purchase. The event is being sponsored by the Tygart Valley Homestead Association with proceeds supporting the community center.
PANCAKE AND BUCKWHEAT FEED: Randolph Lodge IOOF will host a sourdough buckwheat feed today from 7 a.m. to noon. The event will be located at the Lodge Hall on the Beverly Five-lane.
RABIES CLINICS: Randolph County 4-H Rabies Clinics for small animals will be held at sites around Randolph County. Today, clinics will be held at the Dry Fork Recreational Center from 9-11 a.m., the Mill Creek Fire Station from 10 a.m. – noon and Elkins Southern States from 1-3 p.m. There is a charge for vaccines. HEALING HABITS: The Elkins Seventh-day Adventist Church will host a free health seminar on Sunday at 777 Kennedy Street in Elkins. The topic will be nutrition. The seminar will feature food samples, a door prize and a question and answer session with health professionals. For more information, call 304-642-1429.
CEMETERY MEETING: Greenwood Cemetery meeting will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Presbyterian Church in East Dailey. All relatives of those interred in the cemetery are asked to attend.
MOBILE FOOD PANTRY: Mountaineer Food Bank Mobile Food Pantry will be at Camp Pioneer from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on April 25. Items include a protein, vegetable, fruit, carb, dairy and more. All items are free of charge.
RANDOLPH COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF RETIRED SCHOOL PERSONNEL: will meet Friday, April 28, at 12:30 p.m. at the Steer Steakhouse. An AARP representative will present information about any recent legislation that affects Senior Citizens from the recent WV Legislative Session. An auction will be held to support our Scholarship program. All West Virginia retired school employees are invited to attend.
PIANIST JACK GIBBONS: will perform for the residents of Mountain Living Community Assisted Care in Belington Friday, April 28, at 6 p.m. The event is open to the public. A reception will follow.
RAMP BURGER DINNER: The American Legion Post 29 will be hosting a ramp burger dinner on Saturday, April 29, from 10:30 a.m. until sold out. Meal consists of ramp burger, french fries, baked beans, cookie and bottled water. Dine in or carry out. Tickets may be purchased in advance at 326 Railroad Ave.
BEVERLY BOOKMOBILE USED BOOK SALE: will be at the Beverly Elementary School playground pavilion on Saturday, April 29 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Beverly Bookmobile.
HOMESTEAD BISCUIT/SAUSAGE GRAVY BREAKFAST: is scheduled for April 29 from 7 a.m. to noon at the Homestead Community and Event Center dining hall In Dailey. Dine in or carry out. The menu includes made-from-scratch biscuits and sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, home fries, cinnamon apple dessert, coffee, orange juice or milk. FAMILIES IN NATURE LEARNING DAY: On April 30 from 2-4 p.m., meet at Augusta Pavilion on the campus of Davis & Elkins College for a nature scavenger hunt, animal yoga, nature games, pollinator station, learn how to "leave no trace", local trail info, meet and greet with Woodsy the Owl, make ornaments for the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree w/recycled items, and giveaways. BENEFIT DINNER: A benefit spaghetti dinner will be April 30 from noon - 5 p.m. at the Brushy Fork Community Building on Brushy Fork Road. The proceeds will benefit Patsy Helmick Turner in her 2nd fight with cancer in three years. The menu includes spaghetti, salad, roll, dessert and drink. All are welcome to attend.
CLASSIC CAR CRUISE IN: The Philip Barbour High School girls basketball team is hosting their second annual classic car cruise at PBHS on April 30 starting at 10 a.m. There will be door prizes, 50/50 and food.
BASEMENT SALE: The United Women in Faith will host a basement sale at the First United Methodist Church, 52 S. Florida St., Buckhannon 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 2. Gently used items including clothing, housewares and other miscellaneous items for sale.
BLOCK PARTY: will be May 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on 2nd Street and Henry Avenue in Elkins. The event will feature bounce houses, yard games, free food, special music by Nashville recording artist Anthony Mossburg, and more.
YARD SALE FUNDRAISER: Washington District Community Club yard sale fundraiser will be Thursday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday, May 5, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Washington District Volunteer Fire Company in Tallmansville (Upshur County). In addition to yard sale items, hot dogs, baked goods, coffee, soda and water will be sold. Proceeds support people in need in our community, including the Washington District Volunteer Fire Company and Washington District Elementary School.
ELIMINATION DINNER: The Elkins VFW will be hosting an Elimination Dinner/Drawing on May 6. Happy Hour will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. with the dinner/drawing scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Other special drawings and raffles will take place during the event. USED BOOK SALE: The Elkins-Randolph Library Book Sale is organized by the Friends of the Library (Bookhounds). Funds are being raised to support the renovation and expansion of the Library. The sale is at the damaged library location, 416 Davis Avenue, Elkins on Friday, May 19, and Saturday, May 20 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Friends of the Library members will have private access to the sale from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 19.
EMMA SCOTT ANNUAL PLANT SALE: The Emma Scott Garden Club presents its "Ninth Annual, Floral, Food and Fun” event on Saturday, May 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Randolph County Community Arts Center. Plants will be offered for a reasonable price along with bazaar items and freshly baked goods. Proceeds from the event help fund the club's many projects throughout the year.
