RAMP BURGER DINNER: The American Legion Post 29 will be hosting a ramp burger dinner today, from 10:30 a.m. until sold out. Meal consists of ramp burger, french fries, baked beans, cookie and bottled water. Dine in or carry out. Tickets may be purchased in advance at 326 Railroad Ave.
BEVERLY BOOKMOBILE USED BOOK SALE: will be at the Beverly Elementary School playground pavilion today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Beverly Bookmobile.
HOMESTEAD BISCUIT/SAUSAGE GRAVY BREAKFAST: is scheduled for today from 7 a.m. to noon at the Homestead Community and Event Center dining hall In Dailey. Dine in or carry out. The menu includes made-from-scratch biscuits and sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, home fries, cinnamon apple dessert, coffee, orange juice or milk. FAMILIES IN NATURE LEARNING DAY: On Sunday from 2-4 p.m., meet at Augusta Pavilion on the campus of Davis & Elkins College for a nature scavenger hunt, animal yoga, nature games, pollinator station, learn how to "leave no trace", local trail info, meet and greet with Woodsy the Owl, make ornaments for the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree w/recycled items, and giveaways. BENEFIT DINNER: A Benefit Spaghetti Dinner will be Sunday from noon - 5 p.m. at the Brushy Fork Community Building on Brushy Fork Road. The proceeds will benefit Patsy Helmick Turner in her 2nd fight with cancer in three years. The menu includes spaghetti, salad, roll, dessert, and drink. All are welcome to attend.
PERFORMANCE: The Appalachian Dulcimer group will be playing during the 11 a.m. worship service at Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church at 113 First Street in Elkins. Everyone is welcome.
CLASSIC CAR CRUISE IN: The Philip Barbour High School girls basketball team is hosting their second annual classic car cruise at PBHS Sunday starting at 10 a.m. There will be door prizes, 50/50 and food.
REVIVAL: at Markley Chapel will be Sunday through May 6. Junior Perdue will be the leading evangelist, with special singing each night. Services will be at 6 p.m. Sunday and at 7 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
BASEMENT SALE: The United Women in Faith will host a basement sale at the First United Methodist Church, 52 S. Florida St., Buckhannon 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 2. Gently used items including clothing, housewares and other miscellaneous items for sale.
BLOCK PARTY: will be May 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m, on 2nd Street and Henry Avenue in Elkins. The event will feature bounce houses, yard games, free food, special music by Nashville recording artist Anthony Mossburg, and more.
YARD SALE FUNDRAISER: Washington District Community Club yard sale fundraiser will be Thursday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday, May 5, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Washington District Volunteer Fire Company in Tallmansville (Upshur County). In addition to yard sale items, hot dogs, baked goods, coffee, soda and water will be sold. Proceeds support people in need in our community, including the Washington District Volunteer Fire Company and Washington District Elementary School.
ANNUAL INSIDE YARD & BAKE SALE: by the Mt Carmel Baptist Church Ladies Missionary will be May 5 and 6 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. The church is located beside the Randolph County 4-H. Breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., with lunch from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the group’s Annual Mission Goals.
COMMUNITY BABY PANTRY: There will be Community Baby Pantry at the Phil Gainer Community Center 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 3:30 p.m. May 5. The community baby pantry is open to all Randolph County families with children under the age of five years old. All children are welcome to diapers, wipes, formula, hygiene products, and more. All items are free of charge.
ELIMINATION DINNER: The Elkins VFW will be hosting an Elimination Dinner/Drawing on May 6. Happy Hour will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. with the dinner/drawing scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Other special drawings and raffles will take place during the event. SPAGHETTI DINNER: will be at St. Patrick Parish Hall in Coalton on Sunday, May 7 from noon to 5 p.m. Dine-in or carry out. Separate prices for adults and children under 10 years old.
PURPLE MAJESTIES: The May get together for the Elkins Purple Majesties will be held Monday, May 8, at Sweet T’s Country Kitchen Restaurant, 6087 Seneca Trail, Valley Bend, at 11:30 a.m. The menu will consist of chicken or tuna salad. Please let Connie Collins at 304-478-4710 noon on Thursday, May 4, if you are coming or need to cancel. If leaving a message, please indicate your menu choice. As always, guests and new members are welcome to join.
RANDOLPH COUNTY DEMOCRATIC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE: will meet Tuesday, May 9, at 5 p.m. at the Kump Education Center. Ideas for fundraisers and plans for outreach events will be discussed. This meeting is open to all interested individuals. For more information call or text 304-641-0751.
BUTTERFLY SALE: Our Town, Inc. will host a Butterfly Sale, the painted butterflies that are exhibited downtown, on Saturday, May 13, from 1-3 p.m. at the Dann Building at the corner of Third St and Davis Ave.directly across from Elkins Sewing Center. HOOKED ON FISHING NOT ON DRUGS: Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs at the Phil Gainer Community Center is set for 10 a.m.-3 p.m. May 13. HOFNOD is a non-profit event that promotes outdoor recreation while educating local youth on the dangers of substance abuse. All participants can expect door prizes, games, resource vendors, and a functioning concession stand.
