BEVERLY -- The Beverly Bookmobile is a recipient of the Louis Lenski Covey Foundation's Grant program.

The Foundation, which was established in 1967 by Newbery author and illustrator Lois Lenski, advances literacy and strives to foster a love of reading among underserved and at-risk children. This foundation has awarded over 400 grants nationwide.

The Beverly Bookmobile was awarded $2,300 from the foundation which was used to purchase hardback nonfiction titles for the library.

Teacher Lucy Godwin said, "We strive to provide Bookmobile visitors with quality, up-to-date books and resources. These books will be an incredible addition to our library!"

The Beverly Bookmobile, a school bus turned mobile library, will make its rounds in the Beverly School district on the following Mondays: June 19 and 26, and July 10, 17, 24 and 31.

The bus is stocked with books for all ages, educational resources, games and ArtsBank mash-up boxes. The Wildcat Farmstand, sponsored by the Tygart Valley Lions Club, provides children 18 and under with free organic produce from the Charm Farm.

The Bookmobile is collaborating with the Beverly Library, WV Read Aloud, Wonder & Grow, Interact, US Forest Service, WVU Extension, WV DEP, and community volunteers to provide educational programming at the Beverly Heritage Center, Camp Pioneer, and Beverly Manor locations.

Valley Health Care, Youth Health Services, Tygarts Valley United Way, Family Resource Network, Children's Mobile Crisis and Stablization, and Healthy Grandfamilies will be on board to provide families with additional resources.
