BUTTERFLY SALE: Our Town, Inc. will host a Butterfly Sale, the painted butterflies that are exhibited downtown, on Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at the Dann Building at the corner of Third St and Davis Ave., directly across from Elkins Sewing Center. Those on reserve must be picked up that day or call to make other arrangements; otherwise, first come, first served. For more information, call 304-636-0415.
HOOKED ON FISHING NOT ON DRUGS: Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs at the Phil Gainer Community Center is set for 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. HOFNOD is a non-profit event that promotes outdoor recreation while educating local youth on the dangers of substance abuse. All participants can expect door prizes, games, resource vendors, and a functioning concession stand.
CEMETERY CAKEWALK: will be Saturday at the Talbott Community Building on the Talbott Road. Proceeds will benefit the Talbott Cemetery. Kitchen opens at 5 p.m., with the cakewalk at 7 p.m.
MEALS ON WHEELS: Meals on Wheels of Randolph County’s annual business meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 17, at 1:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the board room of the Davis Medical Center on Gorman Avenue. All current and past board members and volunteers are invited to attend. Please call the office at 304-636-4919 to reserve your spot.
FUNDRAISING EVENT: Davis Medical Center Volunteer Services will host a Books Are Fun Fundraising Event on Thursday, May 18, from 6:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the Marketplace Lobby. Lots of books and gift items will be available for purchase. Show your Books Are Fun receipt and receive a 20% discount in the Gift Garden Gift Shop and a $1 off any Grande or Venti size beverage at Starbucks WPS on the day of this event.
USED BOOK SALE: The Elkins-Randolph Library Book Sale is organized by the Friends of the Library (Bookhounds). Funds are being raised to support the renovation and expansion of the Library. The sale is at the damaged library location, 416 Davis Avenue, Elkins on Friday, May 19, and Saturday, May 20 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Friends of the Library members will have private access to the sale from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 19.
EMMA SCOTT ANNUAL PLANT SALE: The Emma Scott Garden Club presents its "Ninth Annual, Floral, Food and Fun" event on Saturday, May 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Randolph County Community Arts Center. Plants will be offered for a reasonable price along with bazaar items and freshly baked goods. Proceeds from the event help fund the club’s many projects throughout the year. GOSPEL SING: Valley Bend Presbyterian Church in East Dailey will host a gospel sing on May 20 at 7:pm. Featuring the Chewnings. Everyone welcome.
SPAGHETTI DINNER: The Whitmer United Methodist Church will host a spaghetti dinner on Saturday, May 26, from noon to 5 p.m. Eat-in or carry-out will be available. For more information, call 304-2274798
