eels of Randolph County's annual business meeting will take place on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the board room of the Davis Medical Center on Gorman Avenue. FUNDRAISING EVENT: Davis Medical Center Volunteer Services will host a Books Are Fun Fundraising Event on Thursday from 6:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the Marketplace Lobby. Lots of books and gift items will be available for purchase. Show your Books Are Fun receipt and receive a 20% discount in the Gift Garden Gift Shop and a $1 off any Grande or Venti size beverage at Starbucks WPS on the day of this event.
USED BOOK SALE: The Elkins-Randolph Library Book Sale is organized by the Friends of the Library (Bookhounds). Funds are being raised to support the renovation and expansion of the Library. The sale is at the damaged library location, 416 Davis Avenue, Elkins on Friday, May 19, and Saturday, May 20 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Friends of the Library members will have private access to the sale from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 19.
RANDOLPH COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF RETIRED SCHOOL PERSONNEL: will hold its May meeting Friday at 12:30 p.m. at the Steer Steakhouse. Scholarship winners will be announced. a silent auction for scholarships will be held. All retired school personnel are welcome.
EMMA SCOTT ANNUAL PLANT SALE: The Emma Scott Garden Club presents its "Ninth Annual, Floral, Food and Fun" event on Saturday, May 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Randolph County Community Arts Center. Plants will be offered for a reasonable price along with bazaar items and freshly baked goods. Proceeds from the event help fund the club's many projects throughout the year. LIONS CLUB OF ELKINS CHICKEN BARBECUE: The Lions Club of Elkins will have a chicken barbecue on Saturday, May 20 at the parking lot across from Davis Electrical Service on Randolph Avenue (former IGA). The meal will include half a chicken, two side items, roll, dessert and bottled water. The meals will be ready for drive-thru and walk-up pickup by 11 a.m.
BUCKWHEAT FEED: Randolph Lodge IOOF will host a sourdough buckwheat breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 20, at the Lodge Hall on the Beverly Five-lane. The menu will include sourdough buckwheat cakes, regular pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, coffee, milk and orange juice.
TVHS ALUMNI GATHERING: Tygarts Valley High School is inviting alumni to the 100th graduation set for 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, at the football if the weather allows. If the graduation is held inside the gymnasium, there will only be limited room for families of the 2023 graduating class. There will also be an alumni gathering at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 26. The cafeteria will be open for quiet conversation and the gym will be used for dancing and reminiscing. The FFA will host a chicken burn on Saturday, May 27, and school tours will be available starting in the cafeteria from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
89TH BEVERLY SCHOOL ALUMNI BANQUET: will be Saturday, May 27 at the Beverly Elementary School gymnasium. Registration and social hour will be from 5-6 p.m. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. Everyone who attended Beverly School is invited to attend. The deadline for reservations is today.
