St. Joseph’s celebrates nurses

BUCKHANNON — WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital celebrated National Nurses’ and Hospital Week May 6-13 with activities and events honoring nursing and hospital staff.

Buckhannon Mayor Robert Neal Skinner III signed a proclamation declaring May 6-13 to be National Nurses’ and National Hospital Week in Buckhannon, urging residents to express appreciation for WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital and its staff.

Treats were planned for staff, with each day themed for activities including “Outer Space Monday”, “Beach Day Tuesday”, “Wild West Wednesday”, “Taco Thursday” and “Blue Jean Friday.” The theme of this year’s Nurses’ week celebration is You Make a Difference, and Hospital Week is We are Healthcare.

“I am so proud of how well our staff weathered the pandemic and took such excellent care of patients,” said Skip Gjolberg, President and CEO of WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital.
