ALLEGHENY REGIONAL FAMILY HISTORICAL SOCIETY: will hold a regular meeting today at 7 p.m. in the library at the IOOF Building located on the Beverly Five-lane. HOMESTEAD COMMUNITY CENTER MEETING: is scheduled for today at 6:30 p.m. in the dining hall at the Homestead Community and Event Center located at 4051 Seneca Trail, Valley Bend. Members and community residents are encouraged to attend.
RANDOLPH COUNTY DEMOCRATIC WOMEN: will meet today at 5 p.m. at the Kump Education Center, 401 Randolph Avenue. Topics to be discussed include the upcoming picnic, CER grant, the state convention and future plans. Everyone is welcome to attend. For more information call 304-641-0751.
RANDOLPH COUNTY DEMOCRATS: are holding their annual picnic fundraiser on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Elkins City Park (large pavilion). This year's theme is "Let Freedom and Democracy Ring." There will be music, a 50/50 drawing, a hand-crocheted shawl auction, and a dessert auction. There will also be a recognition of the Randolph County "Democrat of the Year." Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish to share and a dessert to be auctioned. MEATBALL HOAGIE FUNDRAISER: There will be a meatball hoagie sale Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Beverly Fire Hall. HOMESTEAD BACK-TO-SCHOOL FUN EVENT: a free entry Interact Children's Museum is scheduled for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Homestead Community and Event Center located at 4051 Seneca Trail, Valley Bend. All children and families are welcome to join the activities. Concessions will be available for purchase.
PURPLE MAJESTIES: The Elkins Purple Majesties Red Hatters will meet Aug. 14 at Ellie Mays Restaurant at Elk Springs Resort in Monterville. Lunch of trout or chicken will be served at noon. EHS CLASS OF 1973: will host the 50th reunion at the Phil Gainer Community Center on Friday from 7-10 p.m. Dinner and activities will be at Camp Pioneer at Beverly on Saturday, starting at 5 p.m. Reminisce with 65 classmates from 10 states. ROSIE THE RIVETER CELEBRATION: Our Town, Inc. is hosting the third Rosie the Riveter Celebration at Halliehurst Mansion on the campus of Davis and Elkins College Saturday from 1:30 to 3 p.m.. RANDOLPH COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF RETIRED SCHOOL PERSONNEL: August meeting will be Friday, Aug. 18, at 5:30 p.m. at the Homestead Community Center in Dailey. This is a covered dish dinner. BELINGTON HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1960: will hold a reunion on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Belington Community Center (old school gymnasium). Refreshments will be provided. HOUSE TOUR TUESDAYS: Free public tours of the historic Kump House continue every Tuesday afternoon from 3-5 p.m. throughout the summer. New Wild, Wonderful Woods interpretive displays and upstairs rooms are included in the tour. The house is located at 401 Randolph Ave., Elkins (across from Kroger) and parking is available in the rear, accessible via Seneca Road. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged.
