BUCKWHEAT AND PANCAKE BREAKFAST: Randolph Lodge IOOF will host a sourdough buckwheat breakfast from 7 a.m. until noon Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Lodge Hall on the Beverly Five-lane. Breakfast will include sourdough buckwheat cakes, regular pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, milk, coffee and orange juice
ELKINS PURPLE MAJESTIES: will crown a new queen on Sept. 11 at Stonewall Jackson Resort. The crowning of the queen will take place at 11:30 a.m. A buffet lunch will begin at noon. Please make reservations by calling Carol Helmick at 304-614-0359.
CAMP HOPE BENEFIT DINNER: will be Saturday, Sept. 16, from noon to 7 p.m. at Crim Memorial United Methodist Church, 78 Pike Street Philippi, WV 26416, You can call for advanced tickets at 304-366-8345. The meal will consist of Uncle V's Kickin' Chicken smoked on site and sides.
HOUSE TOUR TUESDAYS: Free public tours of the historic Kump House continue every Tuesday afternoon from 3-5 p.m. throughout the summer. New Wild, Wonderful Woods interpretive displays and upstairs rooms are included in the tour. The house is located at 401 Randolph Ave., Elkins (across from Kroger) and parking is available in the rear, accessible via Seneca Road. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged.
