ELKINS — The Elkins High School class of 1973 celebrated their 50th class reunion on August 11 and 12.

A get together was held on Friday evening at the Phil Gainer Community Center. Classmates and guests socialized and reminisced about what they were doing 50 years ago.

Saturday evening started with appetizers and socialization followed by a meal, including meat from the Ox Roast) at Camp Pioneer. The group had a fun auction by their own auctioneer, Dave Hewitt. They held a memorial service outside at dark, releasing lanterns in memory of the 47 deceased classmates.

There was a total of 61 classmates and many guests attending the two-day event. Future plans includes 70th birthday celebration and a 55th reunion.
