The ladies of the Elkins Purple Majesties recently crowned Carol Helmick as the new queen for the coming year.
The Railyard Restaurant was the venue for the lunch consisting of baked steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad and assorted pies for desert. Fall mums were used as decorations along with red hats.
Helmick was crowned by former Queen Beverly Dennison and was presented a queen's pin by former Queen Candy Crawford. Helmick conducted a meeting discussing the coming year.
Gayle Zirkle led the group in the Lord's Prayer and asked for a moment of silence for first responders, members of the military and the victims of the 9/11 terror attacks.
Games were played and prizes awarded to Jennifer Howell and B.J. McKenzie. This month mums were given to the lucky ladies whose numbers were drawn.
There were several guests and a new member who attended the luncheon. If you would like to become a member of the group or to make reservations for a future lunch, call Helmick at 304-636-0109 or 304-614-0359.
