LANTERN TOURS: will explore the darker stories of historic Beverly by a lantern-lit tour today, and on Oct. 20 and Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. each evening. Check-in will be at the Beverly Heritage Center. The tours are presented by the Beverly Heritage Center. There is a cost for tickets.
HOMESTEAD BUCKWHEAT/PANCAKE BREAKFAST: will be held today from 7 a.m. to noon at the Homestead Community and Event Center dining hall located at 4051 Seneca Trail, Valley Bend. The all you can eat menu includes sour dough buckwheat cakes, regular pancakes, pork sausage, eggs (fried or scrambled), coffee, milk, or orange juice and syrup (regular or sugar free). Dine in or carry out. For more information, contact Tom at 304-940-1855.FALL FESTIVAL: The Tennerton United Methodist Church will be holding their 27th annual Fall Festival today from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come out for homemade apple butter, baked goods, trash 'n treasures, and hot dogs. The proceeds will benefit church projects.
SPAGHETTI DINNER: will be Sunday, Oct. 15 from 12-5 p.m. at St. Patrick Parish Hall in Coalton. There is a cost for admission. The event will raise funds for the church.
FUNDRAISER: Randolph Chapter 74 Order of the Eastern Star fundraiser will be Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Applebee's. Good food for a great cause. All day long from open to close. Good for dine-in, carry out or curbside. Sponsored by Applebee's Elkins.
HOUSE TOUR TUESDAYS: The historic Kump House will be open to the public Tuesday afternoons through Oct. 24 from 3-5 p.m. New Wild, Wonderful Woods interpretive displays and upstairs rooms are included in the tour as well as a self-guided Tree Walk. The house is located at 401 Randolph Ave., Elkins (across from Kroger) and parking is available in the rear, accessible via Seneca Road. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged. RANDOLPH COUNTY DEMOCRATIC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE: will meet Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 5 p.m. at the Kump Education Center. Everyone is welcome to attend.
BROWN BAG CONCERT: The Arts Center will host a Brown Bag Concert, on Wednesday, Oct. 18, featuring a performance by Jerry Pingley. The event is free.
BUCKWHEAT AND PANCAKE BREAKFAST: Randolph Lodge IOOF will host a sourdough buckwheat at the Lodge Hall on the Beverly Five-lane on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 7 a.m. until noon. The menu will include sourdough buckwheat cakes, regular pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs, milk, coffee or orange juice. Apple butter will also be available.
CEMETERY MEETING: On Saturday, Oct. 21, Hemlock Community Mt. Olive Cemetery Association meeting at 6 p.m. at Mt. Olive Church. Revised by-laws will be presented to the association for approval. Officers for 2024 to be elected. The public is invited.
MEAT SHOOT: hosted by VFW Post 5781: will be Oct. 21 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the post home in Harman. Refreshments will be provided. The last shoot of 2023 will be held on Nov. 18. For information, contact Danie Ours at 304-227-4349.
ORDER OF THE EASTERN STAR: Randolph Chapter 74 Order of the Eastern Star October meeting will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 24. at 7 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge, 26 Randolph Avenue, Elkins. Monthly meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of the month. All members are welcome.
RANDOLPH COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF RETIRED SCHOOL PERSONNEL: will meet Friday, Oct. 27, at the Steer Steakhouse, with lunch at noon and the meeting at 12:30 p.m. The program will be about Social Security updates and changes by Jane Hazer, a volunteer at the Senior Center. GREENWOOD CEMETERY MEETING: will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5 at the Presbyterian Church in East Dailey. All relatives of those interested in the cemetery are asked to attend.
104th VETERANS DAY DINNER: will be at American Legion Post 29 on Saturday, Nov. 11. The social hour will be at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m. Veterans eat free. Guest tickets are available for purchase. A limited number of tickets is available. The deadline to purchase is Nov. 5.
USED BOOK SALE: The Friends of the Library Used Book Sale and Donation drop off. Every Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Davis Avenue location of the Library. Donations of gently used books, movies, games, and puzzles also taken at this time. All funds collected will go towards the new building fund.
