Mullens & Mullens law firm celebrating 20 years

PHILIPPI — Local law firm Mullens & Mullens, PLLC, is celebrating 20 years of being open for business of practicing law in West Virginia.

Hunter and Catherine (Kate) Mullens founded Mullens & Mullens, PLLC in 2003, and have expanded their practice, fostering growth and experience, to a team that now shares more than 80 years of legal experience.

“When Kate and I set out to establish our own practice, it was important to us that we represented our clients with extensive knowledge and resources,” stated Hunter Mullens, Esq. “Our motto is ‘Experience Matters’ because it really is crucial to the outcomes of the cases.”

The law firm’s areas of focus include business representation, personal injury, wrongful death, mining issues, real estate transactions, and estate planning.

“In our 20 years of operation, we have grown our office and staff and served countless clients,” explained Mullens.

“Kate and I are both proud West Virginians and we really couldn’t be prouder of this milestone and what we have been able to accomplish for the people of West Virginia.”

Hunter Mullens hails from a cattle farm in Pocahontas County, is a cum laude graduate of West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the West Virginia University College of Law.

He was previously appointed and served as Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Barbour and Taylor counties, as well as City Attorney for the cities of Philippi and Grafton.

He is a veteran of the United States Army, and among other medals, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal during combat operations in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm.

Kate Mullens graduated as co-valedictorian from Philip Barbour High School and attended Alderson-Broaddus College as an Honors Program student.

Ultimately, she transferred and graduated from West Virginia University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in political science, graduating as an Honors Program Scholar.

She earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence from West Virginia University College of Law and worked as an associate for H. Gerard Kelley in Philippi in her early career.

The firm employs four attorneys, three full-time staff, and two part-time employees.

Mullens & Mullens, PLLC, was established in July of 2003 by Hunter and Kate Mullens with offices in Grafton and Philippi, and later Clarksburg.
