CHRISTMAS DINNER BASKET APPLICATIONS: will be accepted by American Legion Post 29, for Randolph County residents only, through Friday, Dec. 8, between the hours of 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Proof of your physical residency, ID, and all forms of income you receive is required. Applications must be filled out in the office and cannot leave the building. Applications do not guarantee you will be chosen to receive a dinner. Baskets will be given out Dec. 16 from 8 a.m. – Noon. Letters to recipients will be mailed out beginning Dec. 11. When and if you receive a letter, you must bring your letter, envelope and ID with you on pick-up day. Donations of canned goods, other non-perishable food items, and monetary donations can be dropped off at the Post and are greatly appreciated. For more information, call 304-636-3930.
CHRISTMAS PROGRAM: Good Shepherd Assembly of God and Christian Academy will host a Christmas program. "The Loaned Manger," at 7 p.m.on Friday, Dec. 8.
CHURCH EVENT: Go back in time to the night Jesus was born through an interactive marketplace, a visit with Mary and Joseph, live animals and more at the First Baptist Church, 412 Randolph Avenue in Elkins, on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 4-7 p.m. For more information. call 304-636-3448.
RANDOLPH COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF RETIRED SCHOOL PERSONNEL: will hold their December meeting on Friday, Dec. 8. The Elkins High School choir will perform at 11:45 a.m. at EHS Auditorium and lunch will follow at the Randolph Technical Center. Reservations are required. CHRISTMAS PARTY: At American Legion Post 29 will be Dec. 9 from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. for children ages 12 years and under. This will be held in Calain Hall, upstairs, at the 4th Street entrance. There will be pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus, snacks, making cards for Veterans, and also some small gifts!
BUCKWHEAT FEED: by the Beverly United Methodist Church Men's Group will be Saturday, Dec. 9 from 7 a.m. to Noon at the church. The menu will consist of buckwheat cakes, regular pancakes, sausage, sausage gravy, eggs, coffee, milk and orange juice.
HOLIDAY CRAFT SHOW: will take place at the Davis & Elkins College Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. An assortment of vendors will offer a variety of items, including homemade chocolates, cookies, breads, wreaths, holiday crafts and gifts, and much more. The event is sponsored by the D&E Student Nurses Association.
HUMAN RIGHTS CELEBRATION: will be Sunday, Dec. 10 at 3 p.m. at the historic Kump House, 401 Randolph Ave., Elkins. Join the Kump Education Center in celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with a special presentation by Becky Ashburn, an Eleanor Roosevelt reenactor. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. Parking is available at the rear of the Kump House, with easy access off Seneca Road. PURPLE MAJESTIES: The Elkins Purple Majesties Red Hats will have their annual Christmas Dinner on Monday, Dec. 11, at the Railyard Restaurant in Elkins. The dinner will be a turkey buffet with all the trimmings and will be at 1 p.m. The group will be collecting unwrapped new toys at the dinner to benefit Toys for Tots. BROWN BAG CONCERT: The Arts Center will host a free Brown Bag Concert Dec. 13 from noon to 1 p.m., with Raymond Godwin playing holiday music.

ART EXHIBIT: The Arts Center will host a free entry to an art exhibit reception for McWhorter Clouds and Rhopalium by Emily Prentice on Sat. Dec. 16 from 4 to 6 p.m.
CANTATA: The Riverview Chapel Church Cantata will feature Christmas worship and followship at 7 p.m. on Dec. 16 at Riverview Chapel Church, one mile south of Parsons.
CRAFT SALE: The United Women in Faith will be hosting a Cookies, Crafts, and More sale Dec, 16 9a.m. to noon at First United Methodist Church, 52 S. Florida Street, Buckhannon.
WEDNESDAY PICKIN': will again take place on the campus of Davis & Elkins College, in the lobby of the Boiler House Theatre, sponsored by the Augusta Heritage Center and D&E, every Wednesday until June (except for Thanksgiving Week and Christmas Week). The Country Music Jam Sessions run from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and the Old-Time Music Jam Sessions run from 6:30-9 p.m. All acoustic instruments are welcome, as well as singers and listeners.
