BUCKWHEAT FEED: will be hosted by the Beverly United Methodist Church Men's Group today from 7 a.m. to noon at the church. The menu will consist of buckwheat cakes, regular pancakes, sausage, sausage gravy, eggs, coffee, milk and orange juice.
FUNDRAISER: There will be a fundraiser at 6 p.m. today at the Tygart Valley Volunteer Fire Company to raise money for the medical expenses of Amanda Mathis. For more information, call Harvey Taylor at 304-338-2087.
MLK CELEBRATION: The annual Martin.Luther.King Celebration in Elkins will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, at Woodford Methodist Church on 1st Street. Those who wish to participate in the symbolic march will meet at the Federal Building at 2:45 p.m. and walk to the church from there. Keynote speaker this year is Michael Jackson. All are welcome. Potluck dinner will follow in the church fellowship room.
BUCKWHEAT AND PANCAKE BREAKFAST: Randolph Lodge IOOF will host a sourdough breakfast at the Lodge Hall on the Beverly Five-lane on Saturday, Jan. 20 from 7 a.m. to noon. The menu will include buckwheat cakes, regular pancakes, sausage, biscuits and gravy, eggs, coffee, milk and orange juice.
'YOU SHOULD RUN': Join Randolph County Democrats for a conversation about running for office Thursday, Jan. 18 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Kump Education Center. All registered Democrats are invited. Experienced candidates will be available to answer questions and election materials provided. Light refreshments will be served. This event is free. DANCE: will be Thursday, Jan. 25, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Elkins-Randolph County YMCA. There is an admission cost for all over the age of 12. The band will be Bob Smakula and Denice Reese, and the caller will be Joyce Rossbach. Contras and a few squares will be called. No experience or partner needed. The dance is presented by the Elkins Barn Dance Collective and Augusta Heritage Center.
