WVDNR announces the return of trout stockings
SOUTH CHARLESTON — The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) has announced the return of trout stockings to select lakes and streams around the state.
“Trout stocking not only allows us to continue to preserve and enhance our natural resources, but it also provides an excellent opportunity for both first-time and experienced anglers to enjoy West Virginia’s beautiful lakes, streams and rivers,” said WVDNR Director Brett McMillion.
Trout stockings officially returned during the week of Jan. 2, with stockings to the following 29 lakes and streams:

Big Run Lake
Blackwater River
Cacapon State Park Lakes
Chief Logan Lake
Conaway Run Lake
Deegan Lake
Fitzpatrick Lake
Hinkle Lake
Howards Creek
Hurricane Reservoir
James P Bailey Lake
Larenim Park Lake
Laurel Fork Lake
Lick Creek Pond
Little Beaver Lake
Mannington Lake
Miletree Lake
North Fork South Branch
Opequon Creek
Pendleton Lake
South Branch (Catch and Release)
South Branch (Franklin)
South Branch (Petersburg)
South Branch (Smoke Hole)
Spruce Knob Lake
Summit Lake
Thomas Park Lake
Wayne Dam
While daily trout stockings are not announced in advance, the WVDNR publishes a list of recently stocked waters online at WVdnr.gov/fish-stocking.
Anglers may also find out what waters have been stocked by calling the stocking hotline at 304-558-3399.
In inclement weather, missed stockings are made up by either additional stocking runs or additional fish added to upcoming stocking events.
