BUCKWHEAT/PANCAKE BREAKFAST: The Randolph Lodge IOOF will host a sourdough buckwheat breakfast at the Lodge Hall on the Beverly Five-lane today from 7 a.m. to noon. The menu will include sourdough buckwheat cakes, regular pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs, milk, coffee or orange juice. Take-outs will be available.
SPAGHETTI DINNER: will be from noon to 5 p.m. today at the Whitmer Methodist Church. The event will benefit youth projects. For more information, call Steven Wymer at 304-227-4260.
WOMAN'S CLUB MEETING: The regular monthly meeting of the GFWC Woman's Club of Elkins will be Tuesday, Feb. 20 at the Phil Gainer Center beginning at 6:30 pm. The program will be presented by Mike Bell from Davis Medical Center, there will be an initiation ceremony for D&E College Club members, and Dr. Mary Boyd will report on the Jared Box initiative. BROWN BAG CONCERT: The Arts Center will host a free Brown Bag Concert with Pam Roberts on Feb. 21 at noon.
SPAY-GHETTI DINNER: The Randolph County Humane Society will serve the famous St. Patrick's Guild of Coalton's spaghetti with meatballs on Saturday, Feb. 24, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Phil Gainer Community Center in Elkins. The menu will consist of spaghetti with meatballs, salad, beverage and dessert. This event supports RCHS' efforts to prevent pet overpopulation in Randolph County.
FREE LECTURE SERIES: "Nature's New Deal – The Monongahela National Forest" lecture will be at the Kump Education Center Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. Robert C. Whetsell, U.S. Forest Service archaeologist, will present this second talk of the Woodlands Heritage Lecture Series focusing on the extensive restoration efforts that took place from 1933-1942 that created the beautiful forest we enjoy today. The lecture is free and open to the public. Easy access to parking behind the historic Kump House, 401 Randolph Ave. (across from Krogers) via Seneca Road. SQUARE DANCE: will be Thursday, Feb. 29 from 7-9 p.m. at Big Timber in Elkins. No experience is necessary. The band will be Born Old, and the caller will be Tony Minney. There will be a cost for admission.
COUNTRY STORE AND PANCAKE AND SAUSAGE FEED: First United Methodist Church, 315 Kerens Ave, Elkins will offer a country store on Friday, March 8, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Saturday, March 9, 7 a.m. – 1 p.m. Shoppers may name their own prices. Tickets for quilt and basket drawings will be available. Pancakes and sausage (ramp and regular) will be served on Saturday, March 9, 7 a.m. – 1 p.m. Contact 304-636-0660 to purchase tickets.
AUCTION AND HOAGIES: Project Playground is raising money for a new state-of-the-art playground for Beverly Elementary and the children in the community. The playground serves more than students of the school; it is a meeting and play place for families in the area. Take part in a Fundraising Auction and Meatball Hoagies on Saturday, March 9 at 5 p.m. to support the kids, and their fitness and wellbeing with state-of-the-art play equipment. The event will be at the Beverly Fire Hall. CARROT CAKE ROLLS: Christ's Church in Horner will be taking orders for carrot cake rolls (with or without walnuts) and bonbons (peanut butter, coconut, and cherry nut). Order by calling Brenda at 304-613-9207 or Kathy at 304-476-3177. The last day to order will be March 14. All proceeds will go to Christ's Church.
FREE EASTER EGG HUNT: will be presented at 4-H Camp Pioneer on Saturday, March 23 at 10 a.m. Children will be able to meet the Easter Bunny, and games and face painting will be offered. An all-you-can-eat breakfast will also be offered for a price from 7 a.m. to noon, featuring biscuits and gravy, pancakes, eggs, sausage, milk, juice and coffee. The event is sponsored by AHF 4-H Teen Leaders.
AMERICAN LEGION BIRTHDAY DINNER: The American Legion Post 29 will be hosting its 105th Birthday Dinner on Tuesday, March 26. Social Hour will be at 5:30 p.m. and the program/dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be American Legion National Commander Daniel Seehafer. Meal includes chicken alfredo, caesar salad, bread, dessert and drink. Tickets should be purchased by 3/22 as none will be sold at the door. For more information, call 304-636-3930.
