ELKINS -- The Morrison-Novakovic Center for Faith and Public Policy will host guest speaker Daniel Silliman for a lecture titled "When Richard Nixon Haunts Your Dreams: The Spiritual Trauma of a Disgraced President."
The lecture will be a thought-provoking conversation surrounding the controversial term of the United States' 37th President, Richard Nixon.
The lecture will be presente Thursday at 5 p.m. in the Myles Center Plaza on the campus of Davis & Elkins College.
"We are looking forward to this event; it is a great opportunity for students to come out, listen, and share ideas on a topic that holds much room for discussion," stated Dr. Andrew Jones, Associate Professor of Communication, and Co-Director of the Morrison-Novakovic Center.
Dr. Jones, students and faculty will have many opportunities to converse with Dr. Silliman throughout the day. Currently scheduled, the guest is set to speak in the morning religion class of Dr. Brantley Craig, Associate Professor of Religion and Philosophy and co-director of the Morrison- Novakovic Center.
Dr. Silliman and the hosts plan to allocate time to talk with students and answer questions. After the lecture, he will be attending a dinner hosted by students in the Morrison-Novakovic Center, where they will have a chance to discuss the lecture and guest speakers' other works.
Silliman is the author of "Reading Evangelicals" and "One Lost Soul: Richard Nixon's Search for Salvation."
He worked as a crime reporter outside of Atlanta, Georgia, before pursuing higher education and earning a master's degree from Tubingen University and a doctoral degree from Heidelberg University in Germany.
He is currently news editor for Christianity Today.
The event is open to the community.
