CARROT CAKE ROLLS: Christ’s Church in Horner will be taking orders for carrot cake rolls (with or without walnuts) and bonbons (peanut butter, coconut, and cherry nut). FREE SOUP & SANDWICH SUPPER: at Asbury United Methodist Church will be Friday from 4-6 p.m. at the church at 134 S.Beverly Pike in Belington. All are welcome.
FUNDRAISER: A St. Patrick’s Eve Dinner & Comedy fundraiser is set for Saturday in Thomas in Tucker County, at Rudolph’s. Hosted by the Tucker County Democratic Executive Committee, the meal will feature Irish soda bread, corned beef and; cabbage, a vegan Irish stew, choice of desserts, tea and coffee. RANDOLPH COUNTY DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION: The Randoph County Democratic Executive Committee and Randolph County Democratic Women invite all registered Democrats, Independents, and registered “Other” party voters to the 2024 Democratic Convention on Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon at the Kump Education Center, Elkins. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. for registration and refreshments (Byrd”s Donuts, coffee, and other sweets). The agenda includes election of delegates to the state convention in Charleston, voter registration, volunteer sign-up, and a chance to meet and chat with candidates. BUCKWHEAT AND PANCAKE BREAKFAST: Randolph Lodge IOOF will host a sourdough buckwheat breakfast at the Lodge Hall on the Beverly Five-Lane on Saturday from 7 a.m., until noon. The menu includes sourdough buckwheat cakes, regular pancakes, sausage, biscuits and gravy, eggs, milk, orange juice and coffee. Carryouts will be available.
ST. PAWTRICK'S AT SMOKE ON THE WATER BBQ: The Randolph County Humane Society will celebrate St. PaWtrick’s on Saturday from 1 to 7 p.m. The fundraising event will include a Cornhole Tournament along with challenging pub game classics like Ring Toss, Sling Puck and Hook and Ring. There is an entry fee for the cornhole tournament, while a ticket buys access to play all pub games. Smoke on the Water BBQ is located on Route 33 East (1455 Allegheny Highway).
NATURE AND THE ECONOMY IN APPALACHIA: lecture Wednesday, March 20, at 7 p.m. at the Kump Education Center, Elkins. This the third free presentation of the Woodlands Heritage Lecture series funded in part by the Appalachian Forest National Heritage Area. It features Eriks Brolis, Director, Economic Development and Strategic Initiatives of The Nature Conservancy. Park in the rear of the Kump House, 401 Randolph Ave. across from Kroger. RANDOLPH COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF RETIRED SCHOOL PERSONNEL: will meet Friday, March 22, at noon at the Steer Steakhouse. A program concerning Medical Emergencies for Seniors will be provided by Davis Health System nurses. FUNDRAISER: The Elkins Area Band Auxiliary will host a cake walk and basket raffle on March 23 at the Elkins High School cafeteria from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Concessions open at 11 a.m. and the cake walk starts at 12:15 p.m.
FREE EASTER EGG HUNT: will be presented at 4-H Camp Pioneer on Saturday, March 23 at 10 a.m. Children will be able to meet the Easter Bunny, and games and face painting will be offered. An all-you-can-eat breakfast will also be offered for a price from 7 a.m. to noon, featuring biscuits and gravy, pancakes, eggs, sausage, milk, juice and coffee. The event is sponsored by AHF 4-H Teen Leaders.
URBAN TREE Rx WORKSHOP: will be Saturday, March 23 at 2:30 p.m. at The Kump Education Center, Elkins. This workshop will focus on choosing the right tree, successful planting tips and maintenance tips to ensure your tree's viability. Park in the rear of the Kump House, 401 Randolph Ave. across from Kroger. Easy access off Seneca Road. This event follows the Our Town Spring Expo.
REVIVAL: There will be a revival at Hunters Fork Gospel Lighthouse on Hunters Fork road just outside of Belington. Preaching will be Rev Brice Utt. It will run from Monday, March 19, through Saturday, March 23, starting at 7 p.m. each night.
BUCKWHEAT BREAKFAST: VFW Post 5781 will host a buckwheat breakfast on Saturday, March 23, from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the post home in Harman. The menu will consist of buckwheat and regular pancakes, homemade sausage, sausage gravy, fried potatoes, eggs, and drinks.
AMERICAN LEGION BIRTHDAY DINNER: The American Legion Post 29 will be hosting its 105th Birthday Dinner on Tuesday, March 26. Social Hour will be at 5:30 p.m. and the program/dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be American Legion National Commander Daniel Seehafer. Meal includes chicken alfredo, caesar salad, bread, dessert and drink. Tickets should be purchased by 3/22 as none will be sold at the door. For more information, call 304-636-3930.
