SPAGHETTI DINNER: will be from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 5 at the St. Patrick Parish Hall in Coalton. There is a cost for adults and for children. Dine in or carry out will be available.
12-HOUR BASEMENT SALE: at First United Methodist Church, 52 S. Florida St, Buckhannon on Tuesday, May 7, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Proceeds benefit mission projects of United Women in Faith. Grab bags available will be available 7-8 p.m.
PLANT THE SEED PROJECT: will host their next meeting on Tuesday, May 7, at 6:30 p.m. at Beverly Elementary School Cafeteria. Everyone is invited to attend and are welcome to get involved in providing our youth the resources they need to grow their own food.
FIRST ANNUAL CONSERVATION BANQUET: will be presented by Mountaineer Chapter of IWLA on May 11 at the Beverly Fire Hall, with doors opening at 4 p.m. The evening dinner will be served at 5 p.m. and prepared by the BVFD Ladies Auxiliary group. The meal will consist of chicken leg quarters, pork lion, with sides, salad, drinks and desserts. Before dinner, guests can enjoy appetizers and spend time socializing with other guests. During the evening the guests can participate in games, silent auctions, raffles and live auction, where they could win firearms, prints and other items donated by local businesses. BUCKWHEAT, PANCAKE BREAKFAST: Randolph Lodge IOOF will host the last of the season's sourdough buckwheat breakfasts at the Lodge Hall on the Beverly Five-Lane on Saturday, May 11 from 7 a.m. to noon. The menu will include sourdough buckwheat cakes, regular pancakes, sausage, biscuits and gravy, eggs, coffee, milk and orange juice.
EXHIBIT OPENING AND SENECA ARTISAN SHOWCASE: The new exhibit at the Appalachian Forest Discovery Center (101 Railroad Ave0, Elkins) will open May 18 with a special celebration. The free event will feature demonstrations by indigenous artisans beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a supper at 5:30 p.m. showcasing Appalachian Foods with Native American Influence. The exhibit "Creating Home: Indigenous Roots and Connections in the Appalachian Forest" will be open Thursday through Sunday from May 18 through October. MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH EVENT: will be May 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Elkins City Park. The Valley Health Care Behavioral Health team will be providing information, along with other professionals and volunteers. The public is invited.
OUR TOWN, INC. SCAVENGER HUNT: Our Town will sponsor a "Celebrating the Family" scavenger hunt on Saturday, May 11, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Atrium at the Seneca Mall. Children, accompanied by an adult, will listen to a story; pick up a scavenger hunt bag, pencil and a clue sheet; proceed to various businesses in town to pick up their treasures and then return to the Atrium for a special activity and treat Everyone will be helped along the way by Our Town volunteers wearing blue shirts and smiles.
EMMA SCOTT GARDEN CLUB ANNUAL PLANT SALE: ESGC will hold its annual plant sale on Saturday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Randolph County Community Arts Center at the corner of Randolph Avenue and Park Street in Elkins There will be a variety of plants for reasonable prices. Proceeds fund many community events.
