ELKINS — Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center continues giving back to the community with a donation to a local golf course where community fundraisers are held.

ERCC donated $1,700 to upgrade the tee-box markers at the Elks Lodge 1135 golf course. The new tee-boxes have been branded with the Elks logo as well as that of ERCC, said David Winners, exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge 1135.

“The Elks Lodge gives thousands and thousands of dollars back to organizations and fundraisers in the area,” said Winners, who is also an employee at ERCC. “It’s really nice for us to be able to upgrade this golf course with a donation.”

ERCC Administrator Tara Shaver added that she was happy to be able to donate the funds to the local lodge.

The non-profit Elks lodge provides much needed services to a vast array of organizations throughout Randolph County, she said.

“The Elks is a great organization,” Shaver said. “They donate money to and hold fundraisers for groups like youth organizations, veterans’ organizations, the humane society and local high schools.”

Shaver went on to stress how important it was for groups, businesses and individuals to donate to and volunteer with organizations that help support the community. The Elks, Shaver added, is one such organization.

“Groups like the Elks and other fraternal organizations and non-profits work hard to take care of others in the community. That’s so important in today’s society,” Shaver said.

A laser was used to emblaze the Elks and ERCC logos on the wooden tee-box markers by local woodworker Mike Pizzino, owner of Almost Heaven Woodcraft.

The new tee-box markers were installed at the golf course by Winners and Kevin Blosser, director of maintenance, who is the safety and security at ERCC.

The Elks Club golf course is open to the public and numerous fundraisers are held at the location, said Blosser, who is also the 2024-2025 state president of the Elks.

Starting at $3.92/week.
