SPAGHETTI DINNER: Shining Light Christian Academy will hold a spaghetti dinner today from 3-7 p.m. Meals include spaghetti, meatballs, salad, bread, drinks and dessert. All proceeds will go to our new school opening in August 2025. First Baptist Church will host the event at 412 Randolph Ave, Elkins. For more information call 304-636-3448.
'HANDS OFF' RALLY: will be today at noon at the Randolph County Courthouse. This is part of many nationwide actions taking place that day. Bring a sign and a friend. Immediately following the rally at 1:30 p.m. there will be a meeting at the Woodford Church, 113 First Street in Elkins for community conversations. Everyone is welcome to attend. CEMETERY CAKEWALK: will be today at the Talbott Community Building on the Talbott Road. The kitchen will be open at 5 p.m. The cakewalk will be at 7 p.m. An Easter Egg hunt will be at 6 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Talbott Cemetery.
HOT DOG SALE: Whitmer Community Church, formerly Whitmer Methodist, is offering a hot dog sale benefit for the Church Youth Group today from Noon to 5 p.m. For sale will be hot dogs with chili/onion, or a meal of two hot dogs, cole slaw and baked beans.
OLD TIME MUSIC: Join in the first and third Mondays, 7-9 p.m. at The Arts Center in Elkins for an Old Time Music Session. Beginning musicians are encouraged to join in. Fiddle, Mandolin, Guitar, Banjo, Dulcimer, Bass are welcome. Participants enter through the back door. For more information, contact dp-foot@hotmail.com.
ELKINS-RANDOLPH COUNTY REGIONAL AIRPORT AUTHORITY: will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at 5 p.m. at the airport terminal building.
WEDNESDAY PICKIN': The weekly Wednesday jam sessions, sponsored by Augusta, are now taking place next-door at Armadillo Flats on Davis Avenue in Elkins. Country Music Jams are from 4:30-6:30 p.m., and Old-Time Jams are from 6:30-8:30 p.m. All levels are welcome, as well as singers and listeners. Look for entry signage (enter from C.J. OPEN MIC POETRY NIGHT: will be offered free at The Arts Center on April 11 from 6-8 p.m. Celebrating National Poetry Month, community members are welcome and encouraged to read a poem of their choice (your own work or one of your favorites). Cookies and drinks will be available for guests.
TYGART VALLEY MASTER NATURALISTS: The Tygart Valley Master Naturalists Chapter starts their Monthly classes Saturday, April 12. Classes are held at the Elkins DNR at 738 Ward Road. Classes run from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. For more information, email kaylhart24@gmail.com.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS FISH FRY: will be offered Fridays during Lent at St. Brendan Catholic Church Parish Hall on April 11, from 4-7 p.m. each day. The menu will be fish, french fries, coleslaw, bread, dessert and a drink. There is a cost for adults, and a lesser cost for children ages 5 to 12. Children under 5 will be admitted free.
ELKINS PURPLE MAJESTIES: (Red Hats) will meet Monday, April 14 at 11:30 a.m. at the China Cook Restaurant, 1511 Harrison Ave. All members and guests are welcome. For additional information, reservations or cancellations call Carole at 304-614-0359.
BROWN BAG CONCERT: will be offered free at The Arts Center on April 16 from 12-1 p.m. Whistlers Children is a recorder trio featuring soprano, alto and bass recorders. Performers include: Katy McClane on soprano, Mary Smakula on alto and Craig Stihler on bass recorder. Found Harmony will be featured in the second half of the program. This duet features Richard McClane on vocals, guitar and fiddle and Katy McClane on flute and vocals. Bring a lunch and friends.
EASTER PARTY: American Legion Post 29 will be hosting a Children's Easter Party on Friday, April 18, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Calain Hall (upstairs, 4th street entrance). Ages 12 and under. EASTER EVENTS: Calvary Assembly of God will host an Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. April 19. They will host a Resurrection Service at 10:45 a.m. on April 20.
FREE MONTHLY TREE TALKS: at the Kump Education Center. The lectures are sponsored by the Elkins Tres Board and KEC. Topics are: 4/23, "Stress, Strain and Trees; An Introduction to Tree Mechanics" by Ken Beezley, D&E. CELEBRATION: The Barbour County Writers are celebrating their 50th anniversary on April 24 at 7 p.m. at the 17 North Facility in Philippi. Readings by past and present members, music by Triffani Green, food and drink and a special tribute to Dr. Barbara Green who founded the group in 1975. All are welcome.
