Tucker County releases lineup for Fourth of July festivities
DAVIS — Tucker County, West Virginia, invites residents and visitors to celebrate Independence Day weekend in the mountains with a packed lineup of events, including live music, family-friendly activities and a fireworks display.
Festivities begin at Canaan Valley Resort State Park with Windfest 2025, a three-day event running July 4-6. The weekend includes workshops, demonstrations and kid-friendly activities such as wagon rides, guided hikes and more.
As part of the Resort’s Mountainside Music Series, a free concert by Zona Hester will take place on July 4 from 6 to 9 p.m.
The celebration continues in the town of Thomas on July 5 with the return of the beloved Mountaineer Days. Highlights include:
– 8 a.m. – Young Life 2K/5K race
– 10 a.m. – Food and craft vendors open along the railroad grade; inflatables available for kids
– 10:30 a.m. – Kids Bicycle Decorating Contest
– 11 a.m. – Live music by Kelsey Jefferies on the main stage
– Noon – Fourth of July Parade
– 1 p.m. – Cake Walk sponsored by the Mountaineer Humane Society
– 2:30 p.m. to Dusk – Live music on the main stage continues with Nat Frederick, Jack Kohn, The Jack Wharff Band and Crowe Boys.
– Dark – The 68th Annual Fireworks Show presented by the Thomas Volunteer Fire Department, the only fireworks display in Tucker County.
Following Mountaineer Days, stay around for the pancake breakfast at the Thomas Fire Hall at 8 a.m. on July 6.
The weekend concludes with a free outdoor concert by the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra at 3 p.m. on July 6 at the Canaan Valley Resort Ski Area Side. Included in the Alpine Festival’s Celebration of the Arts, the patriotic performance features conductor John Devlin and guest vocalist soprano Vanessa Beccera.
“These celebrations are a long-standing tradition in Tucker County,” said Jessica Waldo, Executive Director of the Tucker County Convention and Visitors Bureau. “It’s a weekend that brings the community together and gives visitors a glimpse into what makes this place so special.”
