68TH CLASS REUNION: The Elkins High School Class of 1957’s 68th Class Reunion will be held today and Saturday, Aug. 2. On Friday, the class photo and dinner will be held at 5 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Lodge on the Beverly Five Lane. WELCH REUNION: The Welch Family Reunion weekend event starts today at 6 p.m. at 1720 Kings Run Road in Beverly Bring a chair and snack, hotdogs will be provided. On Saturday Aug. 2, a covered dish lunch will begin at noon at Camp Pioneer AG Building, 38 Pioneer Circle, Kings Run Road Beverly.

CHARITY CAKEWALKS: Below are the dates and benefiting organizations for Citizens Promoting Community’s cakewalks in Elkins in 2025: Today – Elkins Area Band Auxiliary; and Aug. 15 – Tyrand Ministries.

YARD SALE: St. Brendan Yard Sale is back! Today from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Available will be housewares, appliances, books, DVDs, toys, linens, tools, holiday decorations, sporting gear, jewelry, furniture, collectibles and much more. MEETING: The Kump Education Center will host its monthly First Friday: Focus on Education today at 5 p.m., with Guest Speaker Senator Robbie Morris. Join us for an informal gathering to discuss basic education issues including safety, assessment, and funding in Randolph County. This event is free and open to the public. BELINGTON HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1960: The Belington High School Class of 1960 will hold its 65th year reunion on Saturday, Aug. 2, from noon to 3 p.m. in the Belington Community Center (the old high school gym). Refreshments will be provided. Come enjoy spending time with old friends, reliving memories and exchanging updates on the last 65 years. Spend an afternoon of laughter and relaxation.

GARDEN PARTY: Friends of the Mountaintop Public Library, a non-profit organization that supports the library in Thomas, is hosting a garden party on Saturday, Aug. 2, in Canaan Valley. Proceeds will benefit the New Library Building Fund and support general operations. Ticket holders will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, desserts, wine and non-alcoholic beverages. A large silent auction will feature artwork, books, vacation rentals, golf and other activity passes, gift certificates, and much more. NEW SHOOTERS EVENT: The Mountaineer Chapter would like to invite anyone over 18 that is interested in learning shooting safety and hands on experience to join us at this Free event on Saturday, Aug. 2, at the IWLA Rifle Range on Files Creek Road in Beverly. EVANS REUNION: The descendants of Daniel L. and Edna Shaffer Evans will hold their 44th annual family reunion on Saturday, Aug. 2, at Arnold Park, Leadmine. A covered dish lunch will be served at 1 p.m. The Elwood Evans Family will be in charge. Please bring a gift to be raffled.

COLLIER REUNION: will be at Tygarts Valley Firehouse in Dailey on Aug. 2. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed by everyone around 12:30-1:30 p.m. Frank and Lola Collier’s families are having a celebration of their 15th anniversary which was on June 21. All friends and families are invited to come and help celebrate their fifty years of marriage.

FARMERS MARKET: The Elkins Farmers Market, located behind the Railroad Depot, is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Lots of parking is available behind the Summit Church buildings. We have a large variety of vegetables of the season, eggs, cakes, cookies, jams, breads, flowers, crafts and many more items.

TETER REUNION: The Teter reunion will be Sunday, Aug. 3, at the Mountain Farm in Harman.Dinner will begin at noon.

101st ANNUAL CANFIELD REUNION: will be held at the Reunion Grounds at Mt. Zion Sunday, Aug. 3. Bring a lunch to share at 12:30 p.m. Directions: Turn off Randolph Avenue in Elkins at the Iron Horse Statue, stay on the road approximately 5 miles until you see a sign for Mt. Zion Road, turn right, and the Reunion Grounds are at the foot of the mountain.

99th ANNUAL HELMICK REUNION: will be Sunday, Aug. 3 at the Sugarlands Church of the Brethren in Tucker County. Sunday School will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by a basket lunch at 12:30 p.m. All family and friends are welcome to attend.

OLD TIME MUSIC: Join in the first and third Mondays, 7-9 p.m. at The Arts Center in Elkins for an Old Time Music Session. Beginning musicians are encouraged to join in. Fiddle, Mandolin, Guitar, Banjo, Dulcimer, Bass are welcome. Participants enter through the back door. For more information, contact dp-foot@hotmail.com

WEDNESDAY PICKIN’ IN THE PARK: The weekly Wednesday traditional music jam sessions sponsored by Augusta Heritage Center (formerly taking place at Armadillo Flats on Davis Avenue) will now be held outdoors in the Elkins City Park. The acoustic music jam sessions will be held in the Small Pavilion (next to the rest rooms and the parking area) every Wednesday of the summer (weather permitting). Country Music Jams are from 4:30-6:30 p.m., followed by Old-Time Music Jams from 6:30-8:30 p.m. All levels are welcome, as well as singers and listeners. The weekly jam sessions are co-sponsored by the Elkins Parks & Recreation. Anyone is welcome to participate (no sound systems or amplifiers). There are public benches and tables, and those who prefer to bring folding chairs may. In case of bad weather, signage at the pavilion will show the way to an alternative indoor location, the rear entrance to the Community Arts Center. Thanks to Armadillo Flats and C.J. Maggies restaurant for allowing the jam sessions to take place indoors during the cold weather months.

BACK TO SCHOOL COMMUNITY FUN DAY: Tygart Valley Baptist Church, 39 Lewis St. in Beverly, will host a Back-to-School Community Fun Day Saturday, Aug. 9, from noon to 4 p.m. The event will feature a bounce house, face painting, free haircuts, food, games and free school supplies.

OUR TOWN, INC. RANDOLPH COUNTY ROSIE THE RIVETER RECOGNITION: Our Town Inc Auxiliary’s 5th Annual Rosie the Riveter Recognition will occur on Saturday, Aug. 9, from 1-3 p.m. at St. Brendan Church Parish Hall, 181 St, Brendan Way, Elkins. Reservations appreciated 304-636-0415.

YARD SALE, BAKE SALE: The Elkins Church of Brethren will be hosting a Yard Sale, Bake Sale, and Pork BBQ on August 9 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Lunch, which will be ready for purchase beginning at 10 a.m., will include a Pork BBQ Sandwich, Cole Slaw, Baked Beans, Chips, Brownie, and Water. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Church Building Fund. The church is located at 708 West Central Street.

JORDAN REUNION: The 102nd Annual Jordan Reunion will be Aug, 10, at Mountain Fresh Pavilion, Oakland, Maryland. The meal will be served at 12:15 p.m. Meat, bread, rolls, drinks and paper products provided. Please bring items for the chance table. There will also be games and 50/50 Drawing.

PASTINE REUNION: Family and friends of the late Toney and Annie Miller Pastine are invited to attend the annual reunion on Sunday, Aug. 10, at the Phillips Chapel Church Pavilion in Jimtown. Lunch will be served at noon. Meat, drinks, paper products and silverware will be provided. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish and two items for the auction.

74th COOK-TINGLER REUNION: will be Sunday, Aug. 10 at the pavilion located at Lambert’s Laurel Fork/Shay Bottom Campground in Wymer. Descendants of James and Vernite Tinger Cook, family and friends are invited to attend. Please bring a covered dish to share. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Table service will be provided.

REUNION TO BE RESCHEDULED: The D.K. Teter Reunion originally scheduled for Aug. 10 has been canceled. Another time and place will be scheduled and announced soon. For more information, contact Nancy at 304-940-9556.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS FUNDRAISER: Randolph County Special Olympics will have a Vera Bradley bingo on Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Beverly Fire Department. Doors open at 11 a.m. bingo starts at 1 p.m. Concessions will be available.
