FOREST FESTIVAL GRAND FEATURE PARADE SEATS: Forest Festival Grand Feature Parade Chairs will be available in front of the Masonic Lodge, Elkins 103 at 26 Randolph Ave. The seats for Oct. 4 are on sale now. Please call 304-614-3376 to reserve seats. All seats will be paid for in advance. There are only second row seats available.

* Rebekah Lodge 62 is selling chairs in front of the Randolph County Courthouse Annex for the 87th Mountain State Forest Festival. Please contact Brenda Lattea at 304-621-3803 to reserve seating. If no one answers, leave a message.

ALLEGHENY REGIONAL FAMILY HISTORICAL SOCIETY: will be hosting a genealogy workshop today from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at its library located in the IOOF Building along the Beverly Five-lane. Those interested in their family history are invited to attend. Members experienced in genealogy research will be on hand to assist in identifying methods and sources for gathering and organizing information. BAILEY SCHOOL PRESERVATION ASSOCIATION: will host a Fun Day today from 4-7 p.m. at the Bailey School on Bailey Ridge in Buckhannon. Raffles, cake walks, silent auctions, hot dogs, baked goods, and a 50/50 drawing will be included. Proceeds will go to the restoration of the historical school.

BARK AT THE BANK: Join us at Davis Trust today from 10 am to 2 pm for a fun-filled day for the whole family, including the furry kids! Enjoy carnival games, face painting, balloon animals, adoptable pets, and more. Concessions will feature pepperoni rolls from Darren's Pizza Shack.

FARMERS MARKET: The Elkins Farmers Market, located behind the Railroad Depot, is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Lots of parking is available behind the Summit Church buildings. We have a large variety of vegetables of the season, eggs, cakes, cookies, jams, breads, flowers, crafts and more.

HOMECOMING: The Mt Carmel Baptist Church invites all past and present members to their annual Home Coming on Sunday. Lunch will be served right after church services with the Ladies Missionary Group providing fried chicken, hamburgers and hotdogs. Bring your favorite side dish and enjoy an afternoon filled with games, laughter and fellowship. Mt Carmel Baptist Church is located beside Camp Pioneer in Beverly.

WEDNESDAY PICKIN' MOVES INDOORS: The weekly traditional music jam sessions sponsored by Augusta Heritage Center, formerly taking place outdoors in Elkins City Park, have moved indoors to the Community Arts Center, beginning with the month of September. The country music jams are from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., followed by the old-time music jams from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Anyone is welcome to participate (no sound systems or amplifiers) and all instruments and levels are welcome. There will be signage at the rear entrance to the Arts Center and well as in the parking lots. For more information, call 304-614-9527.

POW/MIA RECOGNITION DAY CEREMONY: will be held at the All Veterans Monument on POW/MIA Recognition Day Friday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to come out and join us in paying tribute to those who gave so much. It is fitting that we continue to show them that "you are not forgotten." In the event of inclement weather, the alternate site is the American Legion Post 29.

BENEFIT FUNDRAISER: A meatball hoagie benefit fundraiser is being held to support community member and local contractor, Tom Badgett, who was critically injured after a fall in April. Tickets to purchase the meatball hoagie meal are on sale now and the meals will be available on Friday, Sept. 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church on 315 Kerens Avenue. Meals include a meatball hoagie made by the St. Patrick's Ladies Guild of Coalton, chips and bottled water. Attendees can eat in or carry out. Meals can be ordered for delivery, but must be pre-arranged by request. Proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards helping with Badgett's medical expenses, rehabilitation costs and provide essential equipment. FALL FESTIVAL: The Tennerton United Methodist Church will be holding the 29th annual Fall Festival on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. with the kitchen opening at 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome for homemade apple butter, baked goods, trash 'n treasures, and hot dogs. The proceeds will benefit church and community projects.

MEAT SHOOT: VFW Post 5781 will host a meat shoot on Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the post home in Harman. Refreshments will be served. The next shoot is scheduled for Oct. 18. For information contact Danie Ours at 304-227-4349.

BUCKWHEAT AND PANCAKE BREAKFAST: The Randolph Lodge IOOF will host a sourdough buckwheat breakfast at the Lodge Hall along the Beverly Five-lane on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 7 a.m. until noon. The all-you-can-eat menu will include sourdough buckwheat cakes, regular pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs, milk coffee or orange juice, Carry outs will be available.

MEETING: The Randolph County Association of Retired School Personnel will meet Friday, Sept. 26 at the Steer Steakhouse in Elkins. Lunch will be at noon, with the meeting at 12:30 p.m. Marie Shimmel, the WV Regional Representative, will be our speaker. A Memorial Service and Scholarship Auction will be held. OLD TIME MUSIC: Join in the first and third Mondays, 7-9 p.m. at The Arts Center in Elkins for an Old Time Music Session. Beginning musicians are encouraged to join in.
