Submitted photo The Elkins Purple Majesties’ most recent luncheon took place at Knot Just Another Barn on Kingsville Road on Sept. 8.
ELKINS — Carol Helmick and Debbie Pernia were crowned the new queens for the Elkins Purple Majesties. They will be celebrating their fifth year as queens.
The luncheon was held at Knot Just Another Barn on Kingsville Road on Sept. 8. The “meatball people” made their delicious spaghetti to serve the group.
Special visitors for the luncheon were Mike Ross, Ike Morris and Mack Wori. They were celebrating 87 years of life and friendship.
A younger member of the group, Brett, served as server, photographer and special friend to all.
Fall games were played and prizes were won by Susan Channell, BJ MacKenzie and Sherry White.
The former queens donated mums that were used as gifts. Numbers were drawn and mums were selected by each guest during the event.
Everyone went home with a beautiful flower as a reminder of a very happy afternoon. MacKenzie donated a special gourd that was won by Shirley Moody.
The group is made up of women over the age of 60 who meet the second Wednesday of each month. They enjoy being with friends and catching up with everyone’s news.
