Volunteers Walking Dogs

Submitted photo Heavy rain Wednesday bringing respite from the local drought kept some residents indoors, but Randolph County Humane Society volunteers Adam Burky, left, and Alan Perry, right, braved the downpour to exercise four-footed residents of the RCHS animal shelter on Weese Street in Elkins. No matter the weather— be it rain, sunshine or snow — nearly two dozen volunteers assist with dog walking each week with an average of 10 to 22 walkers on Sundays and six to 12 walkers on Wednesdays and Fridays. Dogs including Apollo, left, and Red, right, enjoy trotting outdoors and interacting with human friends while awaiting adoption to their forever homes.

Starting at $3.92/week.
