CLASSES: On seven Wednesday evenings between today and Nov. 19, Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church’s Lay Academy will present a series of classes on the basic issues of theology: what do we know about God and how do we know it? All are welcome to share this opportunity to ask the big questions about faith and to enjoy discussion and fellowship.  Light meal at 6 p.m. and class from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

FESTIVAL: The Gathering: Fall Festival will be Saturday, Oct. 11 from 5-9 p.m. at Tygart Valley Ministries on Main Street in Beverly. A night of food, family, and fall fun for the whole community will be offered.

BUCKWHEAT BREAKFAST: On Saturday, Oct. 11, there will be buckwheat breakfast at the Homestead Community Center from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Breakfasts can be bought for $10.

FARMERS MARKET: The Elkins Farmers Market, located behind the Railroad Depot, is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Lots of parking is available behind the Summit Church buildings. Offering a large variety of vegetables of the season, eggs, cakes, cookies, jams, breads, flowers, crafts and more.

PURPLE MAJESTIES: The Elkins Purple Majesties (Red Hats) will meet Monday, Oct. 13, at 11:30 a.m. at Knot Just Another Barn off Kingsville Road. The theme will be fall/halloween. ‘YOU SHOULD RUN’ CANDIDATE INTEREST EVENT: will be Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 5 p..m. at the Russell Memorial Public Library in Mill Creek. At this informal gathering, learn about running for office in the 2026 midterm elections, register to vote, and meet your local Democratic leaders. Experts will be available to answer questions and offer help. Light refreshments will be served. A brief Executive Committee meeting will follow the event. ALLEGHENY REGIONAL FAMILY HISTORY SOCIETY: will hold a regular meeting Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. in the library at the IOOF Building located on the Beverly Five-Lane. Those interested in genealogy are encouraged to attend and become a member of ARFHS. WEDNESDAY PICKIN’: The weekly Wednesday evening traditional music jam sessions sponsored by Augusta Heritage Center, which formerly took place at Elkins City Park or at the Community Arts Center, will soon take place at Armadillo Flats on Davis Avenue in Elkins. The acoustic music jam sessions will be every Wednesday of the fall and winter. The country music jams are from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., followed by the old-time music jams from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. All levels are welcome, as well as singers and listeners. The weekly jam sessions are co-sponsored by the Augusta Heritage Center. Anyone is welcome to listen or participate (no sound systems or amplifiers). Officials would like to thank Armadillo Flats and C.J. Maggie’s Restaurant for their generosity in allowing these jam sessions to continue taking place indoors during the cold months ahead. REVIVAL: at Christ’s Church in Horner will be Thursday, Oct 16, Friday, Oct 17, and Saturday, Oct 18, at 7 p.m. each evening. Pastors Rick and Brenda Wyatt welcome the public to attend the event.

BUCKWHEAT FEED: Asbury United Methodist Church in Belington will be having a buckwheat feed on Saturday, Oct. 18 from 8 a.m. to noon. Pancakes will also be available. The price for adults is $10 and the price for children 12 and under is $5.

SPAGHETTI DINNER: The Whitmer Community Church will be having a spaghetti dinner on Saturday, Oct. 18 from noon until 5 p.m. For more information, contact Susie Wymer at 304-227-4260.

BUCKWHEAT AND PANCAKE BREAKFAST: The Randolph IOOF will host a sourdough buckwheat breakfast at the Lodge Hall along the Beverly Five-lane on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 7 a.m. to noon. The all-you-can-eat menu will include sourdough buckwheat cakes, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs, milk, coffee or orange juice, Carry outs will be available.

OLD TIME MUSIC: Join in the first and third Mondays, 7-9 p.m. at The Arts Center in Elkins for an Old Time Music Session. Beginning musicians are encouraged to join in. TRUNK-OR-TREAT: Harrison Community Church, at 1868 Cassity Road, Mabie, is sponsoring a trunk or treat on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. The evening will be filled with crafts, refreshments, and fellowship. Everyone is welcome to attend the event and join in the fun!
