ELKINS -- The City of Elkins asks residents and business owners to sign up for emergency text alerts. Anyone with a mobile phone can receive important alerts including weather warnings, street closures, and water outages. SANITATION DEPARTMENT UPDATES
For December, here is the regular weekly garbage pickup schedule for Christmas week:
– Monday, Dec. 22: Regular schedule
– Tuesday, Dec. 23: Regular schedule
– Wednesday, Dec. 24: Pickup on Tuesday, Dec. 23
– Thursday, Dec. 25: Pickup on Wednesday, Dec. 24
– Friday, Dec. 26: Regular Schedule
For the week of New Year's Eve & Day, here is the regular weekly garbage pickup schedule:
– Monday, Dec. 29: Regular schedule
– Tuesday, Dec. 30: Regular schedule
– Wednesday, Dec. 31; Regular schedule
– Thursday, Jan. 1: Pickup is on Wednesday, Dec. 31
– Friday, Jan. 2: Regular schedule
Also, for December, note that the monthly bulk pickup service runs as follows:
– Thursday weekly trash pickup: *Moved to Monday, Dec. 29
– Friday weekly trash pickup: *Moved to Tuesday, Dec. 30
The change in the Thursday and Friday schedules is due to how New Year's Eve and New Year's Day fall on the calendar this year.
Note that this free service is for ONE ITEM only, such as an appliance, TV, mattress, or piece of furniture.

UPDATED EMAILS AND
WEBSITE ADDRESS FOR ELKINS CITY HALL
The City of Elkins has upgraded its digital infrastructure with its transition to a .gov domain. Our new online address is now https://cityofelkinswv.gov. Everyone may still email City of Elkins employees and access our website using the .com domain (suffix). The change to a .gov domain provides a more secure environment for the City's conducting of business with its residents and vendors. CITY HALL BUSINESS
The next scheduled Elkins City Council meeting will be in January. Council meetings are scheduled the first and third Thursdays of each month. Being that Thursday, Jan. 1, falls on a holiday, the City Clerk's office and Council will reschedule that date soon. Visit https://cityofelkinswv.com/agenda-center/ for up-to-date information.
No committee meetings are scheduled for the coming week.
