WEDNESDAY PICKIN’: The Wednesday Pickin’ Country Music Jam Sessions are continuing to take place weekly at Armadillo Flats on Davis Avenue in Elkins. The jam sessions are co-sponsored by Augusta Heritage Center and C.J. Maggie’s. The Country Music Jams will now be from 3:30-6 p.m. Wednesday. Players, singers and listeners are welcome. The Old-Time Music Jams which were previously held at Armadillo Flats, following the Country Jams, will resume at a later date, time and location to be announced. MEET THE CANDIDATES: The Randolph County Democratic Executive Committee and Randolph County Democratic Women are hosting a “Meet the Candidates” event on Thursday, April 9 at Jimbo’s 304 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend this informal gathering with candidates running for State Senate, House of Delegates, County Commission, and Board of Education. CHAMPIONS FOR CHILDREN: The annual Champions for Children event will be Friday, April 17 at the Parsons Volunteer Fire Department. Randolph Tucker Children’s Advocacy Center hosts their annual fundraiser to celebrate the work our community is doing to Empower Children, Restore Hope, and End Abuse. Live Music by Born Old, Dinner by St. Patrick’s Parrish, Champions for Children Awards, and Live Auction.
BUCKWHEAT BREAKFAST: on Saturday, April 11 from 7 to 11 a.m. at the Refuge Church in Gilman. And the menu will be buckwheat cakes, pancakes, Eggs, biscuits, and gravy.
PURPLE MAJESTIES: The Elkins Purple Majesties (Red Hats) will meet Monday, April 13, at 11:30 a.m. at Barb’s Restaurant at 56 Morgantown Pike in Belington. All members and guests are welcome. For additional information, reservations, or cancellations call Carole Helmick at 304-614-0359.
BUCKWHEAT AND PANCAKE BREAKFAST: The Randolph Lodge IOOF will host a sourdough buckwheat breakfast at the Lodge Hall along the Beverly Five-lane on Saturday, April 18, from 7 a.m. to noon. The menu will include sourdough buckwheat cakes, regular pancakes, sausage, biscuits and gravy, eggs, milk, coffee and orange juice. Carry-outs will be available.
PICKENS RAMP SUPPER: The annual Pickens Ramp Supper will be April 18 at the Pickens American Legion Hall in Pickens. Serving time is noon to 6 p.m. The menu includes ramps, ham, home fries, brown, beans, cole slaw, applesauce, corn bread, dessert and drinks. The dinner is sponsored by the Pickens American Legion Post 122. Everyone is welcome. Proceeds are used to maintain and update our American Legion Hall. EARTH DAY/SPRING EXPO: The 2026 Earth Day/ Spring Expo event will be held at the Elkins City Park on Saturday, April 18. from noon to 3 p.m. The theme will be “Our Earth; Our Backyard.” Various informational booths and interactive activities will be available for all ages. There will be entertainment, food vendors and giveaways. The event is co-sponsored by the Tygart Valley Master Naturalist Chapter and Randolph-Tucker Master Gardeners. CEMETERY MEETING: The Mt. Olive Cemetery Board Association will be meeting at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, at the Mt. Olive Church (Hemlock). The public is welcome to attend.
REVIVAL: Harrison Community Church in Mabie will be holding revival April 24, 25, and 26 at 6 p.m. The speaker for April 24 will be Jarrod Harper with singing by Brady Mayle. The speaker for April 25 will be Norman Hawkins with singing by the Chewning/Cash group. The speaker for April 26 will be Ricky Stillwell with singing by the choir in the Church. Everyone is welcome to attend.
OLD TIME MUSIC: Join in the first and third Mondays, 7-9 p.m. at The Arts Center in Elkins for an Old Time Music Session. Beginning musicians are encouraged to join in. Fiddle, mandolin, guitar, banjo, dulcimer, bass are welcome. Participants enter through the back door. Contact dp-foot@hotmail.com.
