Ohio School of Falconry coming to BBQ Bash

The Almost Heaven BBQ Bash is thrilled to showcase The Ohio School of Falconry during this year’s BBQ Bash the weekend of June 18-20 in Jawbone Park in downtown Buckhannon with free shows and inter-active opportunities with a variety of birds of prey.

The Ohio School of Falconry was founded in 2014 as a wildlife education organization that utilizes the techniques learned from articipating in the ancient sport of falconry, as it’s medium to teach about Raptor conservation with a goal of making falconry an experience accessible to people from all walks of life. Located at historic Camp Mary Orton in the scenic Olentangy Highbanks area of Columbus, Ohio, the school is licensed at both the state and federal levels to provide a variety of hands-on falconry programming.

Their program focuses on a wide variety of birds from hawks to falcons, from owls to buzzards, and they’re excited to bring these pecial birds to Buckhannon, giving everyone the opportunity to be introduced to their finely featured friends.

They will offer shows Friday and Saturday lasting approx. 45-60 minutes providing detailed introductions to each type of bird, culminating with some members of the audience having a bird fly to them.

Of course, there will be lots of great BBQ and other food vendors, Arts & Crafts, games and other family activities, and live entertainment featuring Blue Steele (gospel and bluegrass) on Thursday, June; , Rick K’s Road Trip on Friday, June 19, and a special performance by West Virginia native and winner of “America’s Got Talent,” Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. on Saturday evening on the Main Stage in Jawbone Park – all shows begin at 6:00 p.m.
