GRAND FEATURE PARADE SEATS: Forest Festival Grand Feature Parade seats will be available at the Otterbein United Methodist Church at 1100 South Davis Avenue in Elkins. The seats are for the Oct. 3 parade and will go one sale on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Parade seats may be reserved by calling the church office at 304-636-0569, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. All seats must be paid for by Friday, Sept. 25. Seats that are not paid for by Sept. 25 will be resold. Proceeds from the sale of the chairs will benefit various women's and children's missions.
PARADE SEATS: Forest Festival Grand Feature Parade seats will be available at the Masonic Lodge at 26 Randolph Avenue, in between the Sheriff's Office and the Randolph County Court Annex. There are only second row seats available. To reserve a seat, call Pam at 304-614-3376.
AUVIL FAMILY REUNION: The Auvil Family Reunion will hold their 26th reunion at the Nestorville Community Center in Nestorville on Sept. 13. A covered dish dinner will be held at 1 p.m. Friends and family members are invited to attend. Table service will be provided.
RED HATS: All “nifty over fifty ladies” are invited to join the Elkins Purple Majesties (Red Hats) for their monthly luncheon beginning at 11:30 a.m., Sept. 14, at Knot Just Another Barn off the Kingsville Road. WEDNESDAY PICKIN': Country Music and Old-Time Jam Sessions will take place at Elkins City Park in the Sycamore Street Pavillion every Wednesday for the rest of the summer. Country Music Jams are from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Old-Time Music Jams are from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Some jams may start sooner or end later. Players, singers and listeners are welcome. ELKINS FARMERS MARKET: Open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon behind the Railroad Depot in Elkins. Parking can be found behind the Center Branch Church (formerly the Summit Church) buildings. The market consists of a large variety of vegetables during the growing season, eggs, cakes, cookies, jams, breads, flowers, crafts and many more items.
FALL FESTIVAL: The 30th Annual Fall Festival of the Tennerton United Methodist Church will be Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Kitchen will open at 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome to come out for baked goods, hot dogs and trash ‘n treasures. The proceeds will benefit church projects.

OLD TIME MUSIC: Join in the first and third Mondays, 7-9 p.m. at The Arts Center in Elkins for an Old Time Music Session. Beginning musicians are encouraged to join in. BUCKWHEAT AND PANCAKE BREAKFAST: Randolph Lodge IOOF will host the first of the season sourdough buckwheat and pancake breakfast at the Lodge Hall on the Beverly Five-Lane on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 7 a.m. until noon. The menu will include sourdough buckwheat cakes, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs, milk, coffee and orange juice. Carry outs will be available.
MEAT SHOOT: VFW Post 5781 will host a meat shoot on Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the post home in Harman. Refreshments will be served. For information contact Danie Ours at 304-227-4349. The next shoot will be held Oct. 17.
BUCKWHEAT BREAKFAST: The men of the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church will be hosting a buckwheat breakfast on Sept. 26 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the church. The menu will include famous buckwheat cakes, regular pancakes, eggs, sausage and drinks. The breakfast is all you can eat. For further information, call 304-636-1885.
ELKINS HISTORY TALKS: The Elkins History Talks will be given at Kump Education Center at 7 p.m. in the Optimum Learning Lab beside the old garage. On Oct. 21, Rob Whetsell will describe the Early History of Elkins, and on Nov. 11 Heather Biola will talk about H.G. Kump's time as Mayor of Elkins when the City got its 1920's state-of-the-art water system.
TOPS 0590 MILL CREEK: meets at the Russell Memorial Library in Mill Creek every Wednesday. Weigh-in is from 10:30-10:45 a.m. The meeting follows weigh-in. For information, call 304-338-6403.
