During the week of homecoming, students have a blast celebrating by participating in Spirit Week. The student government association increases participation in Spirit Week with unique themes.
Spirit Week has many different themes to the week, which include Anything But a Backpack day, Adam Sandler day, Welcome to The Jungle day, Throwback Thursday, and lastly Wear your Class Color day for the homecoming football game.
The week of amusement was decided by the spirit week committee in the student government association. The process took about a week to decide before it was approved by Carla Lambert and made for scheduling.
It did have some troubles, though; for example, the "Anything but a backpack day" was provocative for the student government to get approved due to school rules.
"Because you can't be bringing kayaks, children or horses." Student Government member Savannah Gannon said.
Although the creation of the Homecoming Spirit Week took a lot of consideration, it still is the highlight of the week for most students, and brings joy to the students who participate in the activity. The students who participate say that the week is a fun experience to explore.
"Hawaiian day is my favorite because you can throw on a lei and see all the many kinds of leis." Gannon said.
