ELKINS — A man charged in a drug bust at an 11th Street home after the Elkins Christmas Parade has been sentenced in Randolph County Magistrate Court.
Jeremy Adam Watson, 22, of Elkins, was sentenced to 90 days in jail. After serving 30 of those days, the remainder of the sentence will be suspended for six months of unsupervised probation.
He pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance as part of a plea agreement. The state dismissed the original charge of one felony count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
Others arrested as part of the incident were Domingo Ortiz Jr., 48, Tammy Lucille Watson, 51, Jason Richard White, 36, Nakeia Alisa Moore, 32, and Marlena Samantha Hernandez, 37, of Elkins.
Ortiz, Tammy Watson and White were charged with one felony count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, while Moore was charged with one felony count of conspiracy and Hernandez was charged with one misdemeanor count of child neglect.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Randolph County Magistrate Court, on Dec. 7, Sgt. R.W. Belt and Patrolman J.D. George, both of the Elkins Police Department, was told by a confidential informant there were drugs and possible stolen guns at a residence inhabited by Ortiz and both Watsons.
The informant said they were at the residence the night before until about 4 a.m. and Ortiz kept a small black zipper pouch on his hip that contained methamphetamine and Xanax. The informant said Ortiz sat in a chair near the door with a gun in his lap, and there were several other guns in the apartment, placed on the television stand and in the bedroom, the complaint states.
Belt, George, Chief C.D. Cross, Patrolman T.C. Bennett, Patrolman A.M. Wyshyvanuk and Patrolman C.G. Boatwright, along with Deputy Z.T. Pingley of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, went to the home, police said.
After requests to open the door were ignored, Cross forcibly entered the residence. Once inside, Ortiz and Hernandez, who had a juvenile male with her, were detained in the living room. Jeremy and Tammy Watson were both detained in a bedroom of the home, according to the complaint.
Ortiz told officers the black bag on his hip contained methamphetamine and Xanax, the complaint states.
After Ortiz, Hernandez and the juvenile were taken out of the residence by law enforcement. Belt searched Jeremy Watson and found a bottle containing a white substance that he described as “ice” in his front pocket. In the same pocket, Belt found several individually wrapped bags of a green, leafy substance that Watson said was marijuana, according to the complaint.
After everyone was removed from the home, the Randolph County Humane Society was called to remove four pit bull dogs, police said.
While searching the residence, officers found two revolvers with six .38 Special rounds in the cylinders, two black digital scales, a box of sandwich bags, $130, a bag containing several Xanax pills, several individually wrapped bags of a “crystal like” substance, a small bag containing bupunorphrine and a bag of a green, leafy substance, according to the complaint.
On Dec. 8, Belt spoke with a woman who confirmed that both Tammy and Jeremy Watson live with Ortiz, the complaint states.
Tammy Watson previously entered into a plea agreement of the same terms while Ortiz and White had their cases bound over to the Randolph County Circuit Court for presentation to a grand jury. The remaining individuals charged are still awaiting a preliminary hearing.
