KESLING MILL -- The Kesling Mill Lions Club is partnering with local citizens to help provide fire departments in the surrounding areas with animal resuscitation masks.
The idea was created by Buckhannon's famous local clown "Fuzzy," aka Jim Lockhart, when he witnessed an animal being saved on television with one of these devices.
Lockhart then partnered with his fellow clown "Stubbles" to start a program to donate the WAG'N animal resuscitation masks to local fire departments.
Since the start of the fundraising, Fuzzy and Stubbles have donated more than 10 WAG'N resuscitation mask kits to local emergency services. The group hopes to collect nine more, so every local truck and ambulance can have a device on board.
The WAG'N kits are $90 each, which include three different size masks, hoses, DVDs and contact sheets for the animal's owners. The devices can help a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, pigs, chickens and more.
The Lions Club, Wrights Construction and other various donors most recently donated WAG'N device sets to Banks District Volunteer Fire Department, Ellamore Volunteer Fire Department, and Washington District Fire Department.
Fuzzy hopes that the local club can inspire and challenge other organizations, communities, and counties in the state of West Virginia to donate these masks to their local departments.
