ELKINS — A building familiar to any longtime Elkins residents has been torn down this week to make way for progress.

The Citizens Bank of West Virginia is undergoing construction to build a new four-lane drive-thru. The building demolished this week, located at the corner of Third Street and Henry Avenue, will provide space for the new drive-thru. This addition will be connected to the bank’s main facility.

“Citizens Bank of West Virginia is making room for a new drive-thru at our Elkins office. We expect to be using this new facility in the fall,” said Nathaniel S. Bonnell, president and CEO of Citizens Bank of West Virginia.

“By relocating and connecting the drive-thru to our main facility in Elkins, we will be able to have more dedicated staff in one location to improve customer experience and provide faster service,” Bonnell said Tuesday.

The demolished building recently housed the Randolph County Children’s Advocacy Center. In the past it hosted state government agency offices.
