BUCKHANNON -- A 20-year-old Buckhannon man was arrested after law enforcement served a search warrant and found THC, marijuana, guns and more on New Year's Eve.
Robert Thomas Quici was arrested for gross child neglect creating risk of injury, four counts, a felony; possession with intent to deliver THC oil extracts, a felony, and possession with intent to deliver marijuana, a felony, according to the criminal complaint in the Upshur County Magistrate Clerk's office.
Deputy Tyler Gordon with the Upshur County Sheriff's Department said he and fellow deputies along with officers from the Buckhannon Police Department served the warrant at Quici's residence on Three Lick Road. There, they found approximately 12.5 ounces of marijuana valued at approximately $2,500, a large quantity of dried extracted THC known as "shatter," numerous THC vape inserts, several digital scales, a large quantity of packing materials, $8,100 in cash separated in ziplock baggies, two handguns and an AR-15 style .223 rifle along with ammunition.
"The defendant and juvenile brother, placed images and video green leafy substance believed to be marijuana along with pricing for sale on their respective Snapchat accounts," Gordon wrote in the criminal complaint.
The above items were also found within reach of two very small children and two older juveniles.
"The house smelling of marijuana and placing the children in dangerous situations involving the drug trade, intentionally and recklessly causes a substantial risk of serious bodily injury or death," Gordon stated in the complaint. The two youngest juveniles in the home were children of Quici.
Magistrate Kay Hurst set bond at $40,000 each for the gross child neglect creating risk of injury counts and $25,000 each on the drug related counts.
Gross child neglect creating risk of injury carries one to five years in prison and/or a $1,000 to $3,000 fine on each count. The penalty for possession with intent to deliver THC oil extracts carries one to five years in prison and/or a fine up to $15,000. Possession with intent to deliver marijuana carries imprisonment for one to five years and/or fined not more than $15,000.
