ELKINS – Davis Medical Center officials warn of an illicit text message that is currently circulating that falsely claims a case of coronavirus has been confirmed at the hospital.
According to a statement from DMC Tuesday afternoon, the text message was not initiated by the hospital or any of its representatives but is currently circulating.
The message shares a link claiming to lead to information about the disease; however, the link may actually contain inappropriate material.
DMS official stress there is not a confirmed case of coronavirus at the hospital or in the state of West Virginia at this time.
The statement warns that anyone who receives the text should not open the link, as it may lead to inappropriate material and could subject mobile devices to serious security vulnerability.
