ELKINS — An Ohio man is facing a felony charge in Randolph County after allegedly stealing and using a credit card.

Richard David Webb, 43, is charged with fraudulent use of an access device. Webb’s bond was set at $10,000 by Randolph County Magistrate Mike Dyer.

According to the criminal complaint filed by Deputy A.B. Beverly of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on March 6, the officer responded to the Elkins Super 8, at which time he was advised by an alleged victim that he had been notified of a transaction using his stolen credit card at the hotel.

Hotel staff that Webb did use the card to pay for a one night stay in room 211 and provided the officer with an invoice totaling $88.34 that was signed with Webb’s name, address and vehicle description, the report states.

According to the complaint, Beverly received information that Webb had active arrest warrants through the state of Ohio and was provided a copy of Webb’ s driver’s license that was obtained by the hotel when he checked in.

Beverly stated that he was advised of an active warrant issued for Webb’s arrest with full extradition through the state of Ohio for “domestic violence,” then going on to state that he contacted the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, at which time officers confirmed that they would extradite Webb.

Beverly was advised by Webb that he had stolen the credit card to pay for the room, going on to say that it was in his wallet, the report states.

If convicted, Webb could be fined up to $10,000, imprisoned for up to 10 years or both.

Starting at $3.92/week.
