Riggleman wins Grant County Commission seat
PETERSBURG — Tyson Riggleman defeated two challengers in the race for Grant County Commissioner Tuesday night. Riggleman, a Republican, earned 1,691 votes. Fellow Republicans Doug Swick gathered 1,085, while Jill Long won 317.
Brian W. Ours was elected Grant County sheriff with 2,610 votes.
Republican Ralph G. Layton won the Grant County assessor race with 2,715 votes.
John G. Ours won the prosecuting attorney race, earning 2,397 votes.
Mark C. Geary took the county surveyor race with 2,432 votes.
In the Magistrate Court Division 1 race, Willard “Boog” L. Earle II won 2,850 votes running unopposed.
In Division 2, Emory “Bill” Feaster Jr. won with 2,880 votes, also running unopposed.
Elected to the Grant County Board of Education were Kelly Roby with 2,444 votes and Jared N. Amtower with 2,051.
The Grant County Schools Levy passed, with 1,650 voting for the levy and 1,485 voting against the levy.
Frankie Weese was elected Conservation District Supervisor with 2,554 votes.

FRANKLIN — Donald Kopp defeated two other candidates to win the Pendleton County Magistrate Division 1 race Tuesday night.
Kopp received 840 votes, or 40.52%, while Richard “Rick” Pownell earned 637 or 30.73%, and Daniel Roberson took 596 votes or 28.75%.
In the Magistrate Division 2, Kevin Puffenberger, running unopposed, earned 1,766 votes.
Pendleton County Commissioner Carl Hevener won re-election with 923 votes.
In the race for Pendleton County assessor, Republican Donald L. Hedrick earned 678 votes, while Democrat Sandie Huffman Smith took 1,001. The two will face off in the November primary.
Jonie E. Nelson won the Democratic nomination for Pendleton County prosecuting attorney with 734 votes, while Kevin C. Sponaugle earned 439. On the Republican side, April D. Mallow won the nomination with 680 votes.
Chad Bowers won the Pendleton County sheriff race, earning 998 votes running unopposed.
Two candidates ran unopposed for the Pendleton County Board of Education. Betty M. Kimble earned 1,732 votes while Sonny O’Neil garnered 1,420.
Lois Kisamore Carr won the race for conservation district supervisor with 834 votes, while Bradley Walker gathered 574 and Bruce D. Alt took 568. Election results will not be finalized until the canvass is conducted next week.

MOOREFIELD — Tyler D. Bradfield won the Republican nomination for the Hardy County Commission with 628 votes, topping Steven Schetrom with 817.
On the Democratic side, Greg Greenwalt won the nomination with 1,252 votes.
Democrat Jim Wratchford won the Hardy County assessor race with 1,470 votes.
Lucas J. See, a Democrat, was elected prosecuting attorney with 1,250 votes.
Steven Dawson won the Republican nomination for Hardy County sheriff with 1,239 votes.
Alicia N. Sanders took the Democratic nomination for sheriff with 1,254 votes.
David W. Jopling was elected Hardy County surveyor with 1,422 votes.
In the Magistrate Division 1 race, Craig A. Hose ran unopposed, garnering 2,988 votes.
In the Division 2 race, Shawna M. Crites ran unopposed, taking 2,732 votes.
George T. Leatherman III was elected conservation district supervisor with 2,843 votes.
