Moreland
BUCKHANNON -- A traffic stop led to a felony drug arrest for the Upshur County Sheriff's Department Sunday.
Deputy Dakota Linger noticed a Ford Explorer with a light out and initiated a traffic stop on Route 20 just before Turkey Run Road and identified the driver as Jennifer Moreland, 36, of Buckhannon, according to the criminal complaint in the Upshur County Magistrate Clerk's office.
Moreland's license came back as suspended for unpaid citations and Linger noticed that Moreland was "acting very nervous and would not look at this officer while talking," he wrote in the criminal complaint.
A search revealed a lockbox under the driver seat with a bag of meth weighing approximately 6.8 grams, several baggies with meth that appeared to be measured and separated, three smoking devices, assorted drug paraphernalia, two rolls of empty baggies and another baggie with rubber bands. Multiple needles and baggies with a crystal like substance were allegedly found in Moreland's purse.
Linger arrested Moreland for possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, a felony.
Magistrate Mike Coffman set bond at $25,000 cash or surety.
If convicted, Moreland faces confinement in the penitentiary for one to five years and/or fined not more than $15,000.
