BUCKHANNON — A Buckhannon woman who hit a man on the head with a King Kong statue last weekend has been arrested for hitting a different man in the head with a porcelain figurine.

Deon Jones, 44, now faces a second count of domestic battery third offense, a felony, days after being charged with domestic battery third offense, a felony, and resisting an officer, a misdemeanor.

In the latest case, Sgt. Tom Posey with the Buckhannon Police Department responded to 187 Camden Ave. for a domestic incident on Sept. 2, according to the criminal complaint in the Upshur County Magistrate Clerk’s office. The officer observed blood smeared on Jones’ face and a small cut on her finger that was the source of the blood on her face. The cut was straight and clean and didn’t appear to be caused by gravel as Jones claimed.

Jones told Posey, “I don’t want to go to jail.”

Posey wrote in the criminal complaint, “I thought that was peculiar since at the time I was taking the statement, I was under the impression she was the victim.”

However, Posey soon heard the Upshur County E-911 Center put out a call of a male bleeding on Pocahontas Street. He was told by EMS they treated a male on Pocahontas Street for a head wound. Posey arrived at 166 Pocahontas St., the scene of the domestic, and observed a large amount of blood pooled in front of a chair on the porch.

“This officer observed multiple small pieces of broken porcelain scattered and a large piece of porcelain covered in blood,” he said. The victim and homeowner were not present.

Back at Camden Avenue, Posey was advised by Jones’ father that Jones, the victim and her son were walking towards the Pocahontas Street residence and Posey found them back at the residence.

Posey asked the victim what happened but the victim refused to cooperate and said he walked into a pole, according to the criminal complaint.

The victim and Jones were former co-habituating partners.

“The victim was covered in blood and his head wound had been bandaged by EMS,” Posey said.

Jones’ son stated that the victim had called him and told him that Jones had hit him in the head.

“Taking all the statements and evidence into consideration, I believe (Jones) did strike the victim in the head with a porcelain figurine,” Posey said in the criminal complaint.

Jones has two prior convictions for domestic battery in Upshur County on March 3, 2015, and May 5, 2016.

Magistrate Mike Coffman set bond at $25,000 cash or surety.

The victim from the first case, Lawrence Wolfe, 69, of Buckhannon, recanted his story the next day saying it didn’t happen and he made the story up to get (Jones) help, according to BPD chief Matt Gregory.

“He ended up getting charged with false reporting,” he said.

According to the criminal complaint, Patrolman Sam Kraemer wrote that he responded to 220 Randolph St. in reference to a domestic on Aug. 26 where Wolfe stated that Jones struck him over the head with a statute sitting on the coffee table.

On Aug. 27, Kraemer spoke with Wolfe and obtained a written confession stating he gave a false report regarding the incident. Wolfe told the officer that Jones picked up the statute but did not strike him and he falsified the report to have Jones removed from the residence.

Wolfe was arrested for falsely reporting an emergency incident, a misdemeanor, and arraigned before Magistrate Kay Hurst who set bond at $1,500 personal recognizance.

Starting at $3.92/week.
