Two injured in Belington fire

An early-morning fire on High Street in Belington injured two residents on Sunday. Fire departments from Belington, Junior, Philippi and Coalton responded to the scene.
BELINGTON --Two individuals were transferred to a Pittsburgh hospital after an early-morning fire Sunday in Belington.
At 6:56 a.m., the Belington Volunteer Fire Department, along with departments from Junior, Philippi, Coalton and the Belington Emergency Squad, were dispatched to High Street for a structure fire with confirmed entrapment.
When crews arrived on scene, heavy smoke was showing and firefighters made entry with great dispatch information provided by Barbour 911.
Both occupants -- a male and female -- were located in the smoke-filled residence and removed.
Treatment for both residents was started by fire department personal at the scene.
Both occupants were transfered to Davis Medical Center and later to a Pittsburgh hospital.
The conditions of the patients were not released as of presstime.
The cause of the fire is unknown but not being deemed suspicious at this time. It is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal's Office and the Belington Fire Department.
BVFD chief Phil Hart added his gratitude to all responding departments, the State Police, State Fire Marshal's Office and Barbour County 911 dispatchers.
The Barbour County and Randolph County emergency squads also assisted on scene.
