ELKINS -- Each year a group of area women look to welcome a newborn baby into the world with its first-ever Valentine's Day gift.
The Julia Bonafield Circle, or the Circle 4 as they are also known, annually donates a basket or something similar filled with items for the first infant born at Davis Medical Center on Valentine's Day.
"There are other circles in the church and one of them does a gift for the Christmas Baby and one does one for the Easter baby," said Catherine Poe, secretary for the Julia Bonafield Circle. "We take it up to the hospital ahead of time and the nurses give to the mother of the first one born on those special days."
The Circle 4 are part of the United Methodist Women of the First United Methodist Church in Elkins.
The group delivered their Valentine's gift this week and all of the items being donated were packed into an infant bathtub for the newborn.
The tub included items such as diapers, wipes, towels, blankets, clothes and toiletries.
The United Methodist Women do as much as they can to support the area community, officials said. In the past they've helped with things like after-graduation parties for high school seniors and food drives with Tyrand Cooperative Ministries.
