MONTERVILLE -- A Randolph County woman is behind bars after being arrested on a charge of domestic battery Monday.
Jamie Wildridge, 58, is currently lodged in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $1,500 cash-only bond after being accused of hitting and biting her mother, Betty Wilson.
According to the criminal complaint, Deputy A.M. Channell of the Randolph County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the Monterville area to investigate an alleged domestic dispute between a mother and her daughter. While en route he was advised that Wilson had allegedly locked herself inside a part of her residence to keep her daughter away from her.
Upon arrival Wilson spoke through a window open in the room that she was in and informed Channell that her daughter was somewhere near the door inside the residence, the complaint states. While Channell and Corporal E.B. Carr was approaching the side door of the residence, a female was heard yelling and screaming. Officers could also hear the female kicking something inside the residence.
Standing at the door of the residence, officers observed Wildbridge beating and kicking the door to the room Wilson was located in, according to the police report. Channell ordered Wildbridge to turn around and show her hands and at that point she began to growl and come to the door of the residence in an aggressive manner, the report says.
Wildbridge was asked to get on the ground but continued to come toward Channell in an aggressive manner, police said. She was then taken to the ground as she continued toward officers through the door they were opening.
Once Wildbridge was secured in handcuffs inside Channell's police cruiser, the officers went back in the house to check on Wilson, who had blood on her left hand and whose shirt was torn, police said.
When asked what had taken place, Wilson told police that on her way into town her daughter's kitten had run out from underneath her vehicle while she was checking the mail at the bottom of the driveway. She said the kitten then ran into the road and was struck by a vehicle.
Wilson said she collected the kitten and went to the bank. She then came back to a neighbor's residence to drop the kitten off so that he could bury it. She then went back to her residence, the complaint states.
Wilson said Wildbridge entered her home and began hitting her and then bit her left wrist, according to the complaint. She said she was then able to escape Wildbridge and eventually locked herself in her home office, which is where she was when police arrived.
