HELVETIA -- The Randolph County Sheriff's Department confirmed that a 36-year-old Helvetia woman lost her life after a single- vehicle accident Sunday evening.
At approximately 5:19 p.m., Corporal Seth Kyle and Deputy Roger Foster of the Randolph County Sheriff's Department were dispatched to a one-vehicle crash in Helvetia.
Once on the scene, law enforcement found a 2011 Toyota Rav 4 over an embankment. The vehicle had apparently lost control and drove off the left side of the roadway edge before striking a large tree, officials said.
The driver was extricated from the wreckage by fire units and was later pronounced dead. Her two small children, ages 3 and 5, were also in the vehicle in car seats and suffered only minor injuries.
Further information, including the name of the driver, has not yet been released by the authorities.
Randolph County EMS, along with the Mill Creek/Huttonsville and Pickens fire departments, assisted on the scene.
