Elkins woman facing felony drug charge

ELKINS — An Elkins woman is back behind bars after a residence check by police and parole officers allegedly led to the discovery of drugs and a weapon.
Crystal Hedrick, 30, is charged with felony possession with intent to deliver. Hedrick is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a 10% cash bond of $15,000.
According to the criminal complaint, four members of the Elkins Police Department joined State Parole Officer Matt Currence and Brian Thompson on a visit to Hedrick’s house Sunday. Once inside, parole officers located a black pouch which contained a green bag with a brown powdery substance inside. Also in the pouch was a clear bag containing a white crystal-like substance, presumed to be methamphetamine.
While conducting a search of Hedrick’s bedroom, officers located a black lock box, the complaint states. While speaking with Hedrick she advised that the box was not hers, but said officers could check inside it. Officers located a set of keys to the box in Hedrick’s purse, which was lying next to her beside the bed on the floor.
After opening the lock box, officers discovered a large bag containing a crystal-like substance, presumed to be methamphetamine, a black digital scale, and a large amount of small baggies consistent with the sale of narcotics, according to the police report.
Officers also located a .25 auto pistol inside the lock box and located approximately $277 in cash on Hedrick’s person and a cell phone on Hedrick’s bed, the report states. Hedrick was then placed in a patrol unit and transported to the Elkins City Police Department for processing.
