New Elkins mayor to be sworn in Wednesday
ELKINS — Elkins City Council will meet and swear in a new mayor and two new council members on Wednesday at the Phil Gainer Community Center.
The meeting, set for 7 p.m., will be followed by the swearing in of Mayor-elect Jerry Marco Jr., and new council representatives Clint Higgins of Third Ward and Nanci Bross-Fregonara of Fourth Ward.
Also being sworn in Wednesday after being re-elected on March 2 are First Ward’s Rob Chenoweth, Second Ward’s Charlie Friddle and Fifth Ward’s Dave Parker.
The terms of office for the new mayor and council representatives will begin Thursday.
The meeting will feature:
• A brief presentation by the city’s new GIS technician, Ben Martin;
• Resolution 1389: Authorizing a waiver of the contracting business and occupation taxes for the Elkins City Hall parking lot project;
• Resolution 1390: Appointing original members to the Elkins Water Board;
• Resolution 1391: Authorizing the creation of Fund #073 -American Rescue Plan Act, and the opening of a bank account for the purpose of administering the fund;
• Resolution 1392: Announcing support for the West Virginia Municipal League Federal Advocacy Agenda; and
• Resolution1393: Designating Marco an authorized signatory on city bank accounts and cancelling the authorization of outgoing mayor Van Broughton.
