Barbour man charged with soliciting a minor

PHILIPPI — A Barbour County man is behind bars and accused of soliciting a 14-year-old girl.

On Tuesday, April 14, West Virginia State Police arrested Chad McLean 50, of Belington, who is facing felony counts of soliciting a minor and displaying obscene matter to a minor. He is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail with bond set at $70,000.

McLean is a member of the War Dogs Motorcycle Club, officials said.

According to the criminal complaint, the West Virginia State Police arrested McLean Tuesday. Troopers were told by the alleged victim that McLean had grabbed her genitals and had asked her through Facebook messages to perform sexual acts.

Police said McLean also sent the alleged victim nude photographs of women.

When officers searched McLean’s residence, they allegedly found six marijuana plants and additional marijuana seeds, the complaint states. He has also been charged with cultivation of marijuana.

The Philippi Detachment of the West Virginia State Police is investigating the case with the assistance of the Barbour County Sheriff’s Department and the Philippi Police Department.
