ELKINS -- A Flemington man has been charged with a felony after allegedly trying to transport drugs into the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
Aaron Simpson, 32, is charged with knowingly concealing a presumed schedule II controlled substance with the intent of transporting the substance into the TVRJ, where he is being held on a $5,000 cash-only bond.
According to a criminal complaint in Randolph County Magistrate Court, Simpson surrendered to the TVRJ after the issuance of a bail piece by the Marion County Circuit Court.
Prior to traveling into the jail, Simpson allegedly concealed in his rectal cavity a green condom containing small zip-lock baggies with white powder substance inside, the complaint states. A body scan conducted in the booking department at the jail revealed the contraband.
Simpson allegedly admitted to Captain John Pingley that the substance was methamphetamine, a schedule II controlled substance, according to the police report.
The item was collected by Pingley and placed in an evidence bag, which was subsequently collected by police, the report states. An examination of the substance will be conducted at the West Virginia State Police Forensic Laboratory to confirm that the substance is controlled.
