ELKINS -- A Randolph County woman is lodged in the Tygarts Valley Regional Jail after police allegedly seized approximately 108 grams of methamphetamine from her residence on Monday.
Michelle Lillian Cain, 53, has been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and is being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond.
While attempting to locate another subject at a residence different than that of Cain's, Corporal C.G. Boatwright of the Elkins Police Department made contact with another female subject, who after allowing Patrolman B.D. Tice to search her bags, was found in possession of two baggies of a crystal-like substance, three small containers of purple baggies, and two sets of digital scales, according to the criminal complaint.
The police report states that the female subject immediately said she had obtained the "ice" from Cain and stated "that's where all the dope comes from." She was transported to the Elkins Police Department, where she provided a written statement saying that Cain had four to six ounces if not more methamphetamine at her residence.
A search warrant for Cain's residence was obtained from Randolph County Magistrate Ben Shepler.
The police report states that at approximately 12:57 p.m. on Monday, Boatwright and Tice, along with EPD Chief Travis Bennett and Patrolman First Class D.T. Sayre, executed the search warrant on Cain's residence, located in Heavener Acres.
While conducting the search, officers saw in plain view on the dresser next to Cain's bed a clear plastic baggie containing a large crystal-like substance consistent with methamphetamine, according to the complaint. Two small plastic baggies containing the same crystal-like substance were in the same location along with a set of blue digital scales.
Cain was placed into custody and transported to the Elkins Police Department for processing. Upon arrival, the crystal-like substances were weighed and produced approximate weights of 102.09 grams for the baggie with the large amount, and 3.88 and 2.60 for the two smaller baggies.
